Picking up six months after its predecessorA Plague Tale: Innocence,A Plague Tale: Requiemcontinues the story of Amicia and Hugo as they seek to survive in an alternate version of medieval France where a plague has resulted in millions of rats swarming the land. Since its recent release,A Plague Tale: Requiemhas received plenty of praisefrom critics and fans alike.

While still following the groundwork set byA Plague Tale: Innocence, its sequel builds on plenty of things from the original game. There’s a new narrative, which sees Hugo’s rat powers grow and Amicia’s personality take a darker turn in order to protect her brother, but there are also improvedcombat mechanics inA Plague Tale: Requiemand other new gameplay features. There are plenty of reasons that fans have been enjoying the recent game from Asobo Studio, and it seems that the sequel’s popularity has outshone its predecessor almost immediately in many ways.

The game is available on PlayStation and Switch as well, so it is likely that this figure of one million players does include a lot of sales, but Focus Entertainment hasn’t revealed those figures at the time of writing. As one of the more highly anticipated games of October 2022 and the sequel to a well-received title, it was highly likely thatA Plague Tale: Requiemwas going to be a popular release. Despite this, it seems Asobo may not capitalize on it for some time, as it announced thatA Plague Tale: Requiemwas the last entry in the series for now.

There were some who were doubtful that the game would reach this level of popularity, following a short burst of controversy aroundA Plague Tale: Requiem’srelease. The issue for many fans revolved around performance and how the game only ran at 30 FPS maximum on console. However, it seems that despite these concerns, plenty of gamers are still interested to see whereAmicia and Hugo’sPlague Talestory will go next.
