Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2has gotten a lot of attention since its launch, but unfortunately, not for reasons fans wanted. In short,Knights of the Old Republic 2features a game-breaking bugthat prevents the game from being beaten.

At one point in the game’s Onderon story, the player will split themselves and their companions into two parties. After completing the first party’s mission, a cutscene will trigger where the Basilisk crashes into Onderon—at this time, every time with no simple workaround, the game will crash. Aspyr recently confirmed this was a known bug inStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2on social media, issuing an official statement shortly thereafter.

The statement is short and sweet.Aspyrreiterates that it is aware of the game-breaking bug, but also adds its data “suggests that this is only affecting a small number of users.” The company then also iterates that a patch is in the works but does not provide any specific ETA for the patch. Many are understandably upset to see the game released with such a bug, completely ruining theKnights of the Old Republic 2Switch experience as well.

Perhaps the worst part is thatKnights of the Old Republic 2is a good Switch portin how well the graphics and gameplay translate, just completely ruined by technical issues. For those who do want to push on, it seems a new workaround has been found by fans of the franchise; however, it involves accessing the cheat menu in the game.

Simply put, before entering the basilisk, players can press the left stick three times to open the cheat menu. Players can then choose to warp and go to 504OND—which will bypass the scene and let players continuethe story on Onderon. It should be noted that, while this workaround is reportedly working for some fans, it’s unknown if there are any further complications as a result or simply after completing Onderon.

For some, the experience may simply be too discouraging to continue on, or they may elect to wait until Aspyr releases the patch. Although there is no ETA, Aspyr is working on it, and hopefully, it comes sooner rather than later and improves the overall experience on Switch. This game-breaking bug may be the worst, but it’s not the only one in the game after all.

Knights of the Old Republic 2’s Switch port cannot be beaten through legit means at this time.
