Summary
Though Astarion may be a particularly old elf inBaldur’s Gate 3, one player decided to give him (and the other companions) a rather fun age-up using the character creation options. Thesuccess ofBaldur’s Gate 3has brought cRPGs back into the spotlight, as a new generation of video game enthusiasts discovered the joy of developing their own unique build, figuring out how their party members synergize with each other in a turn-based combat experience, and immersing themselves in the rich-yet-approachable atmosphere of the Sword Coast setting.
However, a major part of the game’s appeal was thecompanions ofBaldur’s Gate 3. Both playable as origins and hirable as party members, characters such as Astarion, Karlach, and Wyll have each made a big impression on fans ever since Early Access forBaldur’s Gate 3launched. From fan art to dressing up as the game’s characters, players expressed their adoration of the main cast fromBaldur’s Gate 3, and are certainly hoping that Larian Studios isn’t quite done with them just yet.

A player named grey_anonym used the character creator inBaldur’s Gate 3to shift the Maturity slider all the way to the right, effectively aging up the visual look of Shadowheart, Gale, Lae’zel, and all the other origin characters. They made two versions of the concept and shared the results with the rest of theBaldur’s Gate 3community on Reddit.
The first concept notably included an Astarion cured of his vampirism, a Wyll who wasn’t punished by Mizora, and a Karlach who managed to avert her fate. Some players pointed out that Shadowheart especially resembled her mother when aged-up, as players can find out more about her parents over the course ofShadowheart’s story inBaldur’s Gate 3. The second concept, on the other hand, gave Gale a very flattering Gandalf-like beard, in addition to giving Wyll some thicker facial hair to go with his horns.
Given how perfectlyJaheira was adapted forBaldur’s Gate 3by Larian, most players would no doubt love to see the old gang come back in a hypothetical sequel in some shape or form. Though the developers haven’t mentioned that aBaldur’s Gate 3DLC or expansion is in the works at present, Larian has already begun development on its next game. That being said, if past Larian titles such as theDivinity: Original Singames are anything to go by, it’s possible that a Definitive Edition forBaldur’s Gate 3could be released roughly a year after launch.
