Knock at the Cabinis a relatively simple plot, but saying too much would ruin the surprise. The first trailer makes it seem like a home invasion story wherein a family gets invaded by four people. Leonard, played by Dave Bautista, seems to be the leader of the group and says something cryptic about saving the world.

Wen in Knock at the Cabin

Is this true or is there a twist? That’s the setup in the trailer and that’s all that will be divulged in this intro. Let’s hurry up and get some of the best lines in M. Night Shyamalan’s latest movie filled withclassic horror tension. There will be spoilers.

8“My Heart Is Broken Because Of What I Have To Do Today.”

The opening scene of the movie is full of tension. What is Leonard going to do to Wen? Hasn’t Wen ever heard of stranger danger, especially with a Hulk-sized man like Leonard?

Thankfully, the movie subverts expectations and Leonard isn’t there to kidnap her which happens a lot tokids in horror movies. He, however, does have something horrible planned for her family although he admits he is torn about the situation to Wen.

7“I Want To Put On My My My My My Boogie Shoes.”

“Boogie Shoes” by KC and The Sunshine Band isa reoccurring songin the film which is also used in the trailer. It first appears in the flashback showcasing how Eric and his family get to the cabin. They jam out together, singing the song on their way there. In the end, when Andrew and Wen finally escape, they turn on the radio and that song comes on. Andrew and Wen play a game of shutting the radio on and off which is both funny and tragic since it reminds them of Eric. Eventually, in remembrance of him, they leave it on and drive away.

6“I Have A Problem With This Door.”

This line was said by Adriane after they all break into the cabin. Andrew assumes they are there because they have a problemwith gay people. However, everyone assures Andrew and his family that they are tolerant people.

That’s when Adriane says this line about the door to cut the tension. What problem she has with the door is not revealed, but it’s not exactly a lingering question inKnock at the Cabinsince it was just a joke.

5“The Four Of Us Are Here To Prevent The Apocalypse.”

That is some line to be said by anyone in a movie. How are Eric and his family supposed to take that news from Leonard? It sounds wild and it is the central mystery of the film. Is Leonard and hisfellow Four Horsementelling the truth or is there something hidden behind their story? Andrew has a lot of theories like the news being prerecorded. In the end, it did appear that they were indeed there to stop the apocalypse from erupting on Earth.

4“Make A Choice.”

There are a lot of variations on this line, which is said by a lot of characters in the film. However, Leonard is usually the one to ask if Eric or Andrew is ready to make a sacrificial choice. It’s an impossible choice too since their love for each other is so pure, along with their love for Wen. Are three lives worth 7 billion people? That seems to be the overarching question in the movie and no one can say if they would do better in the same situation. That’s what makes horror movies so engaging.

3“Don’t Look Away From Me.”

The stakes are not set until Redmond has to counter-sacrifice himself to convince Eric and Andrew that this is indeed real. While he is setting himself up for the slaughter, Redmond keeps begging Eric and Andrew to keep looking at him. Redmond needs to know that they understand his sacrifice is their fault.

Leonard similarly has to make sure they understand what Redmond’s sacrifice was for. Every time one of the Four Horsemen dies, a new plague will unleash upon Earth. The first is a series of tsunamis that hit Oregon in one news clip. The footage is seen from Haystack Rock, which has been featured in movies before like The Goonies,an 80s classic.

2“Look At That Crispy Chicken.”

M. Night Shyamalan loves to put himself in his movies. How long he is in them depends, but inKnock at the Cabin’scase, it is very short. While scanning through channels, Leonard briefly lands on a fake shopping channel that is selling some sort of air fryer. M. Night Shyamalan is one of the spokesmen and it’s a wholesome ad in the middle of a tense situation. That’s one thing he consistently gets right in his movies.A horror filmneeds some comedy to break up the tension.

1“Always Together.”

Eric and Andrew are madly in love, despite their flaws. Seeing past flaws is what makes any good couple stronger. This sentiment that Eric says in a flashback shows the mindset the two share. It could also be interpreted to mean that even in death, they will be together. Maybe that’s why “Boogie Shoes” starts playing at the end of the movie. It’s like a message from Eric telling Andrew and Wen that he is still there for them and always will be there for them somehow.
