One player of EA Motive Studio’s remake of horror hitDead Spacediscovered that even the inanimate objects inside the USGIshimuracan pose a threat to protagonist Isaac Clarke, sharing a clip of the helmeted hero spurting blood after walking into a railing inside the menacing mining ship. Already focusing on the future after the horror remake’s successful release, it was recently announced thatMotive Studio is working on EA’sIron Mangame, which currently has no scheduled release date.
Part love letter to the acclaimed 2008 original and part remake, Motive Studio’sDead Spacehas been met with broadly positive reviews from gamers and critics since releasing earlier this year. Originally announced during 2021’s EA Play Live showcase, theDead Spaceremake gave the fan-favorite horror title a complete graphical overhaul with EA’s Frostbite engine to bring the game in line with modern releases, while also making changes to some core gameplay elements. Commenting on the release, original creatorGlen Schofield praised theDead Spaceremakefor being faithful to the original and congratulated Motive Studio on its success.

In a bizarre clip shared on the r/DeadSpace subreddit, user FellowPigeon shows engineer-turned-hero Isaac Clarke encountering some unexpected resistance from the interiors of the USGIshimuraitself, repeatedly spraying blood as he walks into a right-angled handrail. Although Isaac’s health bar thankfully remains unaffected by the painful-looking encounter, one would think the crew of the ill-fated mining ship would have put a warning sign above such a seemingly sharp corner. Renegade railings aren’t the only unexpected danger in the well-reviewed remake, though; evenIsaac’s own weapons can be a threat inDead Space.
Fans ofDead Spaceresponding to the clip of the unusual glitch were ready with some humor to help soothe Isaac’s railing-related wounds. Noting that the unexpectedly dangerous corridor created a serious workplace safety issue for the miners and monsters aboard the USGIshimura, one commenter remarked that “OSHA needs to be called in.” Less concerned with bureaucratic matters and clearly more worried about the rust and decay coating every surface inside the overrun mining ship, another commenter joked that they “hope Isaac had his tetanus shot recently.”
After producing a game as perfectly polished as theDead Spaceremake, developer Motive Studio can surely be forgiven for forgetting to smooth out all the rough edges in the title, even if this particular rough edge managed to draw blood. Whether revisiting a favorite from their past or exploring the horror-filled halls of the USGIshimurafor the first time, it’s likely that many players of this reimagined classic are now wonderingwhat’s next for theDead Spacefranchise.
Dead Spaceis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
