As is common with games with online content, Bungie recently shared its roadmap forDestiny 2. The roadmap revealedexciting new content to hitDestiny 2and covered dates up to mid-May. However, Bungie have now been forced to alter the roadmap.
In 2017, Bungie released its first-person shooterDestiny 2,and eventually transitioned the game to be free-to-play. The game allows players to pick one of three classes as they would in a role-playing game, and then develop their character however they wish. WhileDestiny 2introduced few new innovations upon its predecessor,Destiny, the general opinion was that the release was an overall improvement from the original game.Destiny 2has been generally well received and the game has routinely released new content since its original inception.

Destiny’slatest package of new content will be released for season 13, which has been dubbed the “Season of the Chosen.” On February 2, the company released a full calendar detailing what fans could expect throughout the season. The new season will bring players new weapons, the story of an intense power struggle, and more umbral engrams. However, the official image of the roadmap Bungie gave on their website had a mistake. The “Proving Grounds Nightfall,” an intense new challenge, was initially displayed as free for all players on the calendar. Upon, seeing confusion among fans, Bungie has now released a statement via Twitter. The statement clarifies that this content is not free for all players and is restricted to those who both ownthe “Beyond Light” expansion, and the Season 13 pass.
Bungie is not a company that makes mistakes often. However, it is certainly not rare to see game developers as a whole make mistakes. Last year the Brazilian branch of PlayStationaccidentally revealedGran Turismo 7with a social media poll. Surprisingly, this was the second time news of the same game was accidentally leaked by a company. There was also the time thatMichael Jackson: The Experiencewas mistakenly made free on the PlayStation Vita. In comparison to these accidents, Bungie’s mistake is minor.
Still, some fans who do not have the season pass and expansion will likely be disappointed upon discovering that they will not actually have access to this content. Many are posting their disapproval of the information online. Alternatively, some paying fans are sharing their happiness to hear the content is more exclusive than initially thought over social media. With most of the game beingfree-to-play, Bungie’s pay wall for this content is understandable.
