Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2has a tremendous amount of pressure on it. With the game being billed as the forefront of the franchise’s multiplayer experience for the next two years, the release is presented with the task of keeping players engaged for an unprecedented amount of time.
It is clear that the main way in whichCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is going about this is via season waves of post-launch content, which come roughly every two months. The title has already faced significant criticism from its fan base for a perceived lack of content that is coming from these seasons, although the recent announcement of the Season 3 roadmap seemingly indicates a positive change.

The Current Criticisms of Modern Warfare 2’s Multiplayer
The main predicament thatModern Warfare 2has found itself in ever since its launch in October 2022relates to the sparse amount of content that it originally came with. Infinity Ward hasn’t been able to release all of its planned content in rapid succession, and so the studio has to stagger post-launch content over the course of a two-year period in order to drip feed new experiences to players and keep them engaged.
While this does have some benefits for player retention, the main downside to this form of content delivery is that it barely strings players along, with dedicated long-term fans having to wait months for admittedly lackluster seasonal updates that do little to truly bolster gameplay. Players have accused the game and Infinity Ward of a lack of attention being given to its core multiplayer experience, primarily in the way ofModern Warfare 2not having enough 6v6 mapsand lacking game modes that had become a staple of pastCall of Dutyexperiences. With that being said, it is more than clear that the upcoming Season 3 ofModern Warfare 2is doing well to significantly quell these criticisms.

The Positive Change Coming With Modern Warfare 2’s Season 3
Season 3 ofModern Warfare 2is set to launch on April 12, according to the latest information from Infinity Ward. As to be expected, Season 3 is set to come with a brand-new battle pass, alongside new operators, weapons, store bundles, and in-game events.
Crucially, however, Season 3 is set to bringthree new core 6v6 maps toModern Warfare 2, as well as two larger scale battle maps. This in and of itself is a fantastic addition to the offered content ofModern Warfare 2’score multiplayer, but the addition of a fan-favorite game mode pushes Season 3 a step further.
Gunfight is set to come toModern Warfare 2in Season 3; fans have long demanded that the popular mode make a return to the franchise inModern Warfare 2. An intimate and competitive 2v2 experience, Gunfight will launch with four maps in its rotation, giving credence to just how much content Season 3 is set to bring players. As well as Gunfight, Season 3 is set to bring other game modes toMW2such as Cranked, Face Off, and a Ground War version of the classicCall of Dutygame mode Infected. While this pace of content will have to be maintained going forward to truly negate criticism, the amount of content coming with Season 3 is a fantastic turnaround forModern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
