File size has been a topic since the launch ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare. The massive game justified its size with realistic graphics, a heavy single-player campaign, and the addition of more content since its release. All of these factors add together to help create the massive estimated 200GB file size across all platforms.

This fact has theModern Warfarecommunity searching for ways to reduce the size of the game and keep only the content they want. Although fans can not do much about the growing monster of a file, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 fans can now uninstall sections of the game that they do not want to play.

To begin reducing the file size, players must firstlaunchCall of Duty: Modern Warfare. When in the game, they then must go to the main menu and select Options. From there, navigate the General tab and scroll to the bottom and select Game Installs. This is where fans select any content that they want to get rid of or keep.

Do note that Data Pack 1 is required for all Multiplayer and Spec Ops play. All of the Multiplayer Packs are required for Multiplayer access. Fans that rarely play Special Ops will be happy to know that theSpecial Ops Pack and Special Ops Pack 2can both be safely uninstalled without interfering with the Multiplayer mode. This also works in reverse for fans who enjoy playing the Special Ops but avoid Multiplayer lobbies in general.

Selecting which content should remain installed and what should be uninstalled is up to the personal preference of the player. At least now multiplayer fans can uninstall the campaign and save a little space in the process. This comes in handy for players on Xbox One or Playstation 4 that have the launch console 500 GB hard drives and need to save some space, especially withSeason 4’s recent launch and future content.

Fans are sure to enjoy this opportunity to free up space for other games. AlthoughModern Warfareis massively successful, many fans are still looking forward to the launch ofCall of Duty2020 later in the year. Hopefully, this year’s launch won’t take up nearly as much hard drive space asModern Warfarehas.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
