The drastic transformation will be celebrated by an in-game event that will narrate the transition of the setting of the game fromModern Warfaretimes to fit with the newer game releases. Based on an in-game counter on the current battle pass for this season, it is believed that the next phase of bothCall of Duty: WarzoneandCall of Duty: Black Opsmight begin on July 23, 2025.

It is thought that the game will most likely use the recently discovered nuclear warheads to trigger the map change and start the process. Originally, theVerdansk map revampwas aimed to release last November. However, due to several factors, the company decided to push the release back in order to celebrate the game’s first anniversary in March 2021. Given the extreme popularity that this game has seen, it is no surprise that this change is happening.

Although, since there is going to be anewCall of Duty2021 titlehappening sometime later this year, this might be the last timeCall of Duty: Warzonewill see this large of an update for some time. VideoGamesChronicle’s sources informed the site that Warzone is seen as a “third pillar” alongsideCall of Duty Mobileand full-length games. There will still be continued efforts to ensure fans will receive excellent campaigns, multiplayer, and Zombies/Spec modes going into the future.

Hopefully, fans will be able to have the same amount of enjoyment with this new map as they did from Verdansk. Any long-timeCall of Dutyfan knows the importance a good map can have in the game, and most likely have fond memories of some. However, the friends that players make from these games and join in on those experiences will likely never go away. As sad as it may be for some to say goodbye to Verdansk, at least fans should be happy knowing all changes moving forward will be in players' best interests.
