At this point, the characters ofOverwatchhave become iconic throughout the gaming community. In addition to the gameplay, Blizzard created a cast of diverse characters and worlds for players to dive into. Now Dark Horse is releasing Art of Overwatch Vol. 2 so fans can get a deeper look atOverwatch’suniverse and heroes.

While Dark Horse showcases a wide array of comics, it is also a one stop shop forOverwatchlore outside of the game. It hosts comics focusing on many of the title’s signature characters, and even has ahardcover of the full London Calling seriescoming later this year. This entry comes as a continuation to the Art of Overwatch series. As seen in the cover, this version is focusing on the game’s history from 2017 to the current day. Those picking up the book can expect content relating to more recent characters like Echo or Wrecking Ball. That is not all though, there will be pages devoted to cinematics, modes, and even hero skins that Blizzard released in the past few years. The base version of the book comes out on June 27, 2025, whereas the Deluxe entry releases on October 27.

Written by Matt Burns, a senior writer at Blizzard, Art of Overwatch Vol. 2 includes more than just pictures. With production on the first game slowing down, fans can get more details about behind-the-scenes from the new art book. Supposedly there will be tidbits surrounding the sequel as well, which will give playersOverwatch 2hints other than Blizzcon 2021. The Deluxe Edition comes in an unique slipcase and includes a gold foil cover as well as three lithograph art prints.

For a game with such a colorful cast of heroes and maps, an art book is a great supplement. With a release date back in 2016, character gameplay and designs play a large part in keeping player engagement up. Typically, a hero release drives a lot of gamers back into the game to try out the mechanics too. Though there will not be anynew cast content forOverwatchbefore the sequel, Art of Overwatch Vol. 2 can tide fans over until then.

That said, art and developer commentary may not be sufficient for some players. Grabbing an art book for a famous game or series can be rather niche, and does not really do a whole lot for the game itself. It will not be until the release ofOverwatch 2that fans finally get a true PvEstory mode, something requested since the first game came out. Yet, those who enjoy the universe of Blizzard’s shooter will want to pick up Art of Overwatch Vol. 2 when it releases later this year.

Overwatchis now available for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
