Does this mean there are no future seasons of the show on the docket? If no, what areDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaibato do? What does the future of the franchise hold? Let’s discuss in this review that doubles as a peak into what the future of theDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaibafranchise will look like.

Final Episode: The Hashira Unite

After waiting in the shadows for most of the show, Muzan -likely sensing that Kagaya is on the verge of death- brazenly struts into the center of the Demon Slayers Corp in the middle of the night to confront his nemesis. This is a pivotal moment as while Kagaya has spent his whole life hunting Muzan (and the members before him as well), this is the first time the two have met face-to-face. Though Kagaya is unable to see his lifelong foe, he can sense his presence and faces him with courage and an undaunting glaze. It is time for the two to have a heart-to-heart.

Their Connection by Blood

In the first half of this episode, we learn that Kagaya and Muzan share the same bloodline. More than a thousand years ago, Muzan was born into a family, and the priests warned them that this was going to haunt the family for years. While the ancestors did marry priests for a little extra safety, none of the family members lived past 30 years old. Kagaya knows that until Muzan is defeated, his bloodline will never be freed of the curse Muzan brought into the family. Though the information is shocking for the viewer, Muzan himself is unimpressed, and decides it is time to do what he went there to do.

The Demon Slayers Must Protect Kagaya

Once the Demon Slayer Corp sense that Kagaya is in danger, they all head towards the mansion in hopes of being able to save him. Their attempts to save him, alas, are too little, too late. Not because Muzan is able to absorb Kagaya though; but becauseKagaya blows himself(and his family) up to weaken Muzan and deny him the power that he covets. This is obviously a surprise to the demon, who realizes that he has greatly miscalculated his nemesis, and worries that he may still be underestimating the Demon Slayer Corp. Though he has always walked the Earth with confidence, this action has shaken his confidence and made him feel fear for the first time in many years.

An Epic Showdown Takes Place

After all the episodes of training, flashbacks, and dialog about thefinal battle with Muzan, the first shot has officially been fired. The third act follows the Demon Slayer Corp as the battle against Muzan begins. More revelations are revealed. The training is put into full action. This is everythingDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaibafans love about the show in forty minutes! One could not ask for a better finale to an epic TV series! Yet for being the end of the series, this is not the end of the road for Tanjiro and his friends. In fact, the battle is just getting started.

The Final Moments or the Beginning of the End?

While the biggest moments of this episode will be kept under wraps to preserve the excitement for viewers, one thing that can confidently be stated is that this is not the end of the road forDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. In fact, for a ‘final episode,’ the ‘ending’ leaves a lot to be desired. That is because there is one final arc that has not been covered:theInfinity Castle Arc. It has been debated how the producers would go about making this arc. Would it be a final season? Part season, part movie? Well, it turns out that the final arc will be a trilogy of films. This means that the TV show is effectively over, and the franchise is going to continue as a film franchise going forward.

All the rumors of filler being added to keep the show going longer have (thankfully)been proven wrongwith this announcement. This episode may, in fact, end up being a part of the first Infinity Castle movie. Viewers may notice that this final episode of the show has much higher production values than normal. The way the animation is so smooth and the camera movement resembles the Mugan Train movie more than a standard TV episode, this may serve as a preview to what the next movie is going to be. Either way, after one of the roughest starts to a season this series has ever seen, it is great to see it end on a level of pure ecstasy. The series may be over, but there is still some great stuff to look forward to, and fans have every right to feel excited about it!
