Getting The Navigator Exotic trace rifle inDestiny 2can be quite the ordeal, but obtaining the weapon is worth the challenge. Further, the Exotic Catalyst for the Navigator is even more of a sweet treat, so any players that get their hands on the trace rifle inDestiny 2should pursue getting the Catalyst soon after.

Much like the weapon itself, the Exotic Catalyst comes from theGhosts of the Deep Dungeon. While the Navigator is good without the Catalyst, it’s still a worthwhile improvement on an already great weapon. With the Catalyst and weapon in hand, players can fill the ultimate support role inDestiny 2and meanwhile, have a lot more fun playing on the latest Strand builds.

How the Navigator’s Exotic Catalyst Takes the Weapon to the Next Level

TheNavigator’s Exotic Catalystcreates a free strand grapple hook when players perform a special reload, which is incredibly useful for Strand builds. Not only can players utilize this grapple point for a free grapple without consuming their ability, but the grapple point is also available for other players who aren’t using the gun to utilize. The only restrictions for creating and using the Strand grapple points created by the Navigator are that it requires ammo to generate and a Strand subclass equipped to have access to the grapple ability.

Given how consistent the Navigator’s Exotic Catalyst is for creating these Strand grapple points, it brings new life toDestiny 2’s Strand builds and content in the game.Lightfall’s campaignhad a variety of Strand training wheels for players to use while experimenting with the new Subclass, but very few other activities inDestiny 2have ever given Strand the same treatment. Thanks to the Navigator’s Exotic Catalyst, players can help to bridge this gap and bring Strand builds back to their glory days when the Lightfall expansion was first released. With access to personal grapple points, players can turn any activity inDestiny 2into a Strand playground whether it’s PvP or PvE content.

InDestiny 2’s PvP, having a free grapple point for everyone on the team that has a Strand subclass equipped is incredibly useful and can spell the difference between winning or losing certain objectives. This is even more of an extreme potential when it comes to the competitive game modes, like Iron Banner, andTrials of Osiris. In Trails of Osiris, most game modes have a capture zone that spawns when a round lasts long enough, so using Strand grapples to get to these locations and prematurely control the objective’s location is a highly effective strategy. Not to mention, that the Navigator trace rifle is already a great weapon to use inDestiny 2’s PvP due to its capabilities of providing Woven Mail.

InDestiny 2’s Season of the Deep, trace rifles are already in a great spot in the game in terms of performance and damage. Not to mention, the Navigator is easily one of the best in class when it comes to trace rifles because of the Exotic perk that comes on the weapon regardless of owning the Catalyst. The Navigator’s ability to provide Woven Mail works whether players have Strand equipped or not, but the Catalyst is a further reason for players to pair Strand subclasses with this weapon. Strand weapons can become significantly stronger while using a Strand subclass, so the utility provided by this weapon’s Catalyst is overkill.

Trace rifles are also fairly popular during this season because they are all anti-Champion weapons due to the featured seasonal artifact mod that allows this weapon type to stunDestiny 2’s infamous Overload Champions. Beyond its potential as a Champion counter, the new Cenotaph Exotic helmet for Warlocks also pairs extremely well with the Navigator Exotic trace rifle. With this weapon, the Catalyst, the Cenotaph helmet, and a Strand build, this weapon arguably has all that a player needs for a variety of content inDestiny 2.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
