The first season ofDestiny 2Year 4, calledSeason of the Hunt, is ending soon. So far, players have adventured alongside the Crow and hunted down the Hive’s corrupted army. As things settle, Bungie has started teasing the next season of content, and a preliminary image released to showcase the updated vendor inventories pictured the icon representing Season 13, which has generated a stir in the community.
This image came courtesy of the latestThis Week at Bungieblog post, in which the studio laid out its goals for the near future ofDestiny 2. The post covers hot topics such as vendor progression and ranks as well as loot pools. In essence, Bungie will be expanding the current loot pool to include Dreaming City and Moon weapons and armor, and moreover core activity vendors will get a new ranking system to provide useful materials more consistently.

What’s more interesting toDestiny’s codebreaker community, r/raidsecrets on Reddit, is a peculiar icon. This was spotted in a screenshot Bungie provides and is present on the new Shader as well as the seasonal armor, meaning it is the Season 13 icon instead of a holiday event icon. Some comparisons between the original symbol, a high resolution render by Reddit user Parisito1234, and the Anomalous Signal emblem fromSeason of the Undyingseem to suggest a connection.
To understand what the icon could symbolize, fans have compiled what they know about the upcoming season. The first bit of information is that the season is supposedly calledSeason of the Chosen, according to dataminers. Secondly, the Cabal will play some sort of role in the story, as Bungie shared a sneak peek of an upcoming cutscene depicting Zavala and Osiris standing side-by-side with the Cabal. Osiris mentionsCaiatl, the leader of the Red Legion, this season, so an arrangement with the Cabal isn’t out of the question, and some believe the icon could be Caiatl’s crest.
On the other hand, some players are confident the original Tower will return toDestiny. There is visible construction happening around the old Tower as of this writing, presumably for repairs. What’s even more interesting is the Crow is planning to visit the old Tower again, a sign that players will too since they are now allies with the Crow. Some fans have even suggested that the “chosen” inSeason of the Chosenrefers to the Crow being chosen as the new Hunter Vanguard. Thus, the icon may depict the two Towers with the Traveler in between.
Despite all this, the most popular theory about the meaning of the symbol is that it is a Fallen sigil, possibly the symbol for House of Light. This is an idea that has beenmentioned explicitly inBeyond Light, and it seems to be a Fallen organization that is well underway. House of Light is a friendly faction of the Fallen, one that follows the Traveler and seeks to cooperate with humanity, so it is likely they will depict the Traveler in their house sigil.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
