Prior to the start of the current Season of the Worthy inDestiny 2, controversy erupted throughout the community as Bungie revealed that the seasonal artifact known as Warmind Khanjali woulddirectly impact the highly anticipated return of Trials of Osiris. Fans feared that players with more time on their hands would be able to grind out bounties and XP in order to quickly level their power beyond the hard cap. This, in turn, would reduce the emphasis on player skill and instead focus on who plays the game more.

The immediate pushback and uproar moved Bungie to quickly react who announced that it would disable the artifact power for Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner going forward. While the first weekend Today marks that particular day as Bungie just ended planned maintenance and released hotfix 2.8.0.1 forDestiny 2.

Unlike last week’s update, this one is fairly tiny. According to patch notes, the hotfix includes two changes to the base game. The first addresses theArtifact Power situation by disabling itgoing forward for both Trials of Osiris and the upcoming Iron Banner activities. The second fix makes the missing hidden triumph for the Almighty seal visible for all players.

Trials of Osiris opened its doors for the first time in years this past weekend, enabling both power and the artifact enhanced power. While that went off without a hitch thanks to players being aware of the impending change to the artifact power, new complaints arose once players discovered the type of loot that was waiting forfireteams who managed to go flawless. Many in the community were hoping to see a return to adept weapons, aDestiny 1staple that gave the gun a new cosmetic look, different elemental damage, and unique intrinsic perks.

However, that turned out to not be the case as those special Adept weapons were not actually added to the game at all. Instead, players received a piece of rotating weekly Trials gear. What makes this sting a bit worse than usual is that it was also revealed that Season 10got rid of the Crucible, Vanguard, and Gambit ritual weapons, but the new weapons have underwhelming perk selections. This is especially true when the Seraph weapons are compared to last season’s Timelost weapons, which could be grinded through the obelisk system for some truly god-roll style perks.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
