One of the most exciting announcements at The Game Awards 2018 was the reveal thatDragon Age 4is in active development at BioWare. Since BioWare used The Game Awards to revealDragon Age 4and went on to showcase the newMass Effectgame at the event a couple of years later, some fans have been hoping to get an update on the game at this coming Game Awards show next week. However,Dragon Agefans should keep their expectations in check.
December 4 is consideredDragon AgeDay, and so BioWare released a new statement to its fans. In its statement, BioWare reassuredDragon Agefans that the studio is still actively working onDragon Age 4, reiterating that it will be a single-player focused experience. BioWare added that it will have more to share with fans aboutDragon Age 4, but that fans will have to wait until next year for a new update on the game.

Unless BioWare is trying to swerve its fans, this pretty much rules outDragon Age 4for an appearance atThe Game Awards 2021 on December 9. Of course, it’s always possible that BioWare is misleading fans about when they’ll learn aboutDragon Age 4next so they’re surprised if it’s at The Game Awards, but again, it’s better if fans keep their expectations in check and go in assuming the game won’t be there.
It’s possible that BioWare will still have a presence at The Game Awards 2021, though it does seem unlikely. BioWare had no new games released this past year, and so it doesn’t have anything nominated for any awards. And since thenewDragon Ageis coming well before the nextMass Effectgame, it seems unlikely that the latter will be featured at The Game Awards 2021 either. But anything is possible, and so fans won’t know for sure one way or another unless they tune in to The Game Awards on December 9.
As it stands, very little is known aboutDragon Age 4in an official capacity. BioWare has releasedDragon Age 4concept artand very brief teasers that hint at what fans may expect, but nothing has been spelled out at this point and there have been no substantial trailers released for the game.
Rumors indicate that theDragon Age 4release datewill likely be some time in 2023, and so one has to imagine that the marketing push for the game will start ramping up next year. BioWare’s post says that the team will have more to share aboutDragon Age 4in 2022, so fans have that to look forward to at least.
