The world ofDragon’s Dogma 2is full of unique NPCs that each have their own personalities, likes, and dislikes. It’s possible to become friends with these characters, and doing so can reward players with special items or even free resources.

Much like in the original game, NPC affinity is something that players will want to pay attention to, especially since there are a fewimportant characters early inDragon’s Dogma 2that are worth being friends with as soon as possible.

How Affinity Works in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Simply put, Affinity refers to how much an NPC likes you. This system affects most NPCs, including vendors, your main pawn, and some important story characters. For most players, affinity will only ever be an issue if they’re trying to romance one of the few available options in the game. FollowingUlrika’s romance path inDragon’s Dogma 2, for example, demands that players have a high affinity with her. You’ll know that you have high affinity with an NPC if they blush when you speak with them.

Raising your affinity with an NPC will net you rewards, though this highly depends on who you become friends with. For example, helping Flora out in the Medicament Predicament quest will increase your affinity with her grandfather, Auriol. In doing so, you’ll get theChirurgeon’s Tome, which is used to give your pawn the Chirurgeon specialization. Additionally, NPCs whom you have high affinity with will send gifts to your house (if you have one).

How to Increase Affinity in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Giving gifts inDragon’s Dogma 2is the simplest way to increase affinity with an NPC. You can find out what items a character likes by taking a look at your NPC Logbook. Find the character you want to befriend, and pay attention to theLikessection at the bottom of their info card. You’ll see different kinds of items — here’s what they mean:

As mentioned above, quests will also increase the affinity of certain NPCs towards you. They will generally favor the person who helped them out during their time of need. However, not all NPCs have quests tied to them. If you want to increase the amount of affinity gained for every favorable action you do, use theAllureaugment fromDragon’s Dogma 2’snew Trickster vocation.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawns-1

Your main pawn is also affected by the affinity system. You’ll become closer with your pawn if you:

Reaching high pawn affinity will make them more affectionate toward you. This won’t have much of an impact on gameplay, but it’ll make a noticeable difference once you reach the true ending of the game.
