InDragon’s Dogma 2early-game cloaks and capes aren’t necessarily the most impactful pieces of gear. In fact, hardly any of them offer Defense or Magick Defense stats, though almost all earlyDragon’s Dogma 2cloaks offer some kind of resistance. Each Vocation benefitsmore from different resistances, and some cloaks just look better on the back of a Sorcerer than a Warrior (like the Saurianscale Cape)
This guide to the best early-gameDragon’s Dogma 2Cloaks that players can get does not includeMystic Spearhand, Magick Archer, Trickster, or Warfarer recommendations. These Vocations cannot be unlocked until long after the start of the game, andthere’s not much useful early-gamearmor for them. The Fighter, Archer, Mage, and Thief areall starter Vocations, while Warrior and Sorcerer can be unlocked very soon after reaching the Vermund capital.

The Fighter Vocation benefits from gear that provides resistances toeffects that plague the frontlines. Melee Vocations in particular take the brunt of elemental damages as they’re always in the thick of combat, and this early in the game the most common type is Fire. Get the Dashing Capelet to help mitigate some of this common Fire damage as a Fighter.

Toget theDashing Capelet,Dragon’s Dogma 2players must purchase it from Bjorn’s Armory, in Vernworth, for 3,650g. Bjorn’s Armory is located in the central square of Vernworth, just to the right of the stairs that lead to the Pawn Guild.

As a Mage, the main resistance you should be looking for is resistance to the Silenced debilitation. When Silenced, the Arisen cannot use any of their currently-equipped spells, and as a Mage, that’s about all you can do. TheWaterfowl Cloakgives some nice Frost and Ice resistances, as well as Silenced and Sleep resistance to prevent being taken out of combat. Plus, it only weighs 0.37, perfect for the class with the least carry weight.

Toget the Waterfowl Cloak,Dragon’s Dogma 2players must purchase it from Ines in Harve Village for 10,000g. Harve Village is located just southwest of Vernworth, less than half a day’s travel from the Vermund Capital when following the main road on foot. There is also a Portcrystal location here for ease of travel.

The Velvet Cape isgreat for Archers because, though it’s relatively heavy at 1.06, it provides a triplicate of debilitation resistances that Archers are often afflicted with. At a range, you are less likely to get hit with fire breathing or close-combat spells. But at a range, you are more susceptible to other ranged attacks, which can include Drenching and Tarring arrows. Ultimately, because most cloaks don’t provide meaningful stat improvements, choose this more for its appearance than its stat boosts.

Toget theVelvet Cape,Dragon’s Dogma 2players can loot it for free from a chest in the Mountain Ruins area, just south of the Sacred Arbor, the Elf village. This is where Glyndwr’s quest takes the Arisen when he requests a display of human archery – head north and slightly west from Vernworth, and deep into the forest, to reach this location. It can be bought from a vendor in Bak’battahl, and from Ines in Harve Village once found, but it’s available earliest at this location.

TheFeathered Shawlisuseful for Thief buildsbecause it doesn’t weigh too much but still offers a decent suite of resistances, especially for melee Vocations. It gives a 3 percent resistance to Blighted, Petrified, and Drenched, two of which players run into consistently in the early game. You won’t have to worry about Petrified until much later, but the Feathered Shawl isn’t just good for its stats – it’s also juststylish.

Toget the Feathered Shawl,Dragon’s Dogma 2players must purchase it from Ines in Harve Village for 8,000g. Harve Village is located just southwest of Vernworth, less than half a day’s travel from the Vermund Capital when following the main road on foot.

TheGuerco Peafowl Feathercloakis very expensive, but its resistances are arguably the best for the mid-to-late game, and it’s worth picking up as soon as you have enough Gold. a 3 percent resistance to Ice, Frostbite, and Lightning attacks covers two main damage types that you will encounter after the beginning of the game, but it’s still useful early on, too. It can be acquired soon into the game, but you’ll need to save up for it.

Toget the Guerco Peafowl Feathercloak,Dragon’s Dogma 2players must purchase it from Ines in Harve Village for 22,500g. Harve Village is located just southwest of Vernworth, less than half a day’s travel from the Vermund Capital when following the main road on foot.

TheCommander’s Mantleis a classic cape befitting a high-ranking military officer of some description, and its benefits aregreat for Sorcerers as they are for other Vocations. It weighs a lot at 1.3, but also has a 2% resistance to Ice, Frostbite, Silence, and Petrify. Technically, the Velvet Cape offers a larger resistance to Silenced, which is important for casters like the Mage and Sorcerer. But the other bonuses, and fact that you can only get this in the Checkpoint Rest Town, make it more suitable for Sorcerers.

Toget the Commander’s Mantle,Dragon’s Dogma 2players must purchase it from Celeste’s Smithy, in the Checkpoint Rest Town, for 12,000g. To get here, take the Oxcart on the western side of Vernworth, or follow the main road leading west from the city.
