Launching in 2003 and still going strong,EVE Onlineis a game unlike any other when it comes to community dedication. It was the will of players that contributed to amassive war inEve Onlinethat, while put on hold for holidays, is now back in full swing.
Of course, said war is only on the player-created spectrum of things going on inEVE Online. The game still updates and changes regularly, with developer CCP Games overseeing its maintenance and growth. WithEVE Online’s 18th anniversary coming up, a brand new update is being rolled out to bring new content and update old stuff.

The new update is the second quadrant of 2021 forEVE Online.EVE’s update system is laid out into a quadrant structure, which it has stuck to for the past several years. Four major updates roll out over the course of a year, each with a specific theme and each either starting, ending, or extending ongoing narratives.
The previous quadrant,Reigns, introduced a new fleet finding/creating tool for players. This quadrant, titled Foundation, launches tomorrow and adds new events themed around the four unique empires that rule over the world ofEVE Onlineseparate from player-created factions.
This is not the only thing brought by the update of course. There is also the introduction of a new monument, new exploration sites, and an 18-player free for all battle, no doubt in honor of the game’s 18th anniversary. While it’s certainly a nice infusion of PVE activities, it’s still somewhat tame compared toPhoenix, the final quadrant of 2020, which reshaped theEVE Onlinegalaxy completely while wrapping up a year-long story. Furthermore, anyone familiar withEVE Onlineknows that 18 players is far from the largest number to take part in a single battle. Fleet battles between rival factions can field hundreds of players or more.
In truth, while this update adds a good amount of PVE stuff, PVP is still where the most intense and exciting action remains inEVE Online. The war is still ongoing, with abattle on New Years destroying a record-breakingamount of in-game property.
Of course, battle is not the only thing theEVE Onlinecommunity is up to.CCP Games recently rolled out a partnership programfor content creators making content aboutEVE, a much-needed connection between developers and players. New stuff is still being made and is well worth a look from anyone interested in signing up to catch Foundation’s content influx.
