All Features Confirmed For Indiana Jones and The Great Circle

First-Person Perspective

Out of the gate, the new trailer material for the title confirmed thatThe Great Circlewill be in first-person. The overview honed in on the importance of this aspect, stating how a first-person perspective would better immerse the player and allow them to feel as Indy would feel. However, whilst it looks as if the vast majority of gameplay will be in first-person, the overview also showed off how certain traversal sequences (such as pipe climbing) will pull back to third-person. According to the developers, this decision was made to allow players an occasional glimpse at Indy’s iconic silhouette.

Multi-Purpose Bullwhip

Naturally, Indy will be outfitted with his tool of choice. The adventurer’s famed bullwhip will have a lot to do inThe Great Circle. In combat, trailer footage has shown how its use lies in tripping enemies (even pulling them off scaffolding) and forcing them towards the player. In addition, the whip will be able to be used for stealth (by distracting foes with its signature crack) and traversal, providing the basis for brilliant stunts by the player. It’s good to see how versatile combat will be considering thewhip’s importance in theIndiana Jonesfranchise.

Gunplay And Fist Combat

Indy has had some fantastic moments with guns, so it’s great to see that they’ll play a role. As well as guns and whip combat, the game’s trailer puts special emphasis on his melee prowess, showing the adventurer engage in fisticuffs with goons across many different locales. This should flow well with the whip, allowing players to knock targets prone and lasso them into melee range. The means of grappling and wailing on the faces of combatants is iconic and an example of theIndiana Jonesspirit thatThe Great Circleis trying to emulate.

Various Types Of Problem-Solving

Players will have to solve a variety of puzzles and avoid swathes of traps as they brave long-abandoned ruins. Moreover,MachineGame’sThe Great Circlewill press gamers to consider a variety of factors in how they approach situations. Whilst a guns-blazing approach is possible, enemy patrols can be observed and distractions can be crafted for stealth tactics. Areas will also have multiple paths to circumvent any guards, should the player find them. With all these factors combined,The Great Circlecould be a real brain-teaser.

Globe-Trotting Plot

Taking place betweenRaidersandThe Last Crusade, the game’s plot will have Indy traveling to locations new and old. Indy will be visiting sites of significance across the world that create a perfect circle when plotted on a globe. He’ll have to brave Sukhothai temples, the Himalayas' blizzards, Egypt’s pyramids, Vatican City in the midst of fascist Italy and more. The adventurer will be traveling alongside journalist Gina Lombardi, who has her own stake in the quest. The two will be rivaled by not only the Axis powers, but Emmerich Voss—an “intensely psychological” villain obsessed with manipulating the human mind. From the trailer footage, it seems as if he’ll be operating alongside these Axis goons, likely taking a leading role in their endeavors.
