One magic power, however, is in a league of its own, as the existence of this secret spell is only known by a few throughout the Kingdom of Fiore. The Lumen Histoire is the Fairy Tail guild’s biggest secret, as this power is capable of annihilating complete nations.
The Lumen Histoire is said to be more powerful than the Three Great Fairy Magics combined – a testament to the unfettered strength this ability beholds. Similar to the rest ofFairy Tail’s most powerful abilities, the Lumen Histoire’s roots can be traced back to Mavis Vermillion, the Fairy Tail guild’s founder and first master. Many have tried to take control of this power, as seen in the case of Raven Tail, yet none have ever gotten hold of the secret magic. Considering the significance Lumen Histoire holds for the plot,Fairy Tailreveals more about the power in the latter part of the series, while only hinting towards it during the beginning.

Origins of the Lumen Histoire
Similar to the Three Great Fairy Magics, the Lumen Histoire’s origins can also be traced back tothe guild’s first master, Mavis Vermillion. However, in this case, she is the direct root of the power, as the Lumen Histoire is actually the body of Mavis herself, suspended in lacrima in a stasis-like state. The formation of the Lumen Histoire can be attributed to Prechet, the guild’s second master, who enclosed Mavis in a lacrima in hopes to bring her back to life.
The Lumen Histoire’s infinite power is a direct result of two factors; decades of Prechet’s experiments on Mavis to resurrect her, and the residual power left in her bodydue to the Ankhseram’s Curse. This led to the formation of an all-powerful crystal lacrima, one that is capable of mass destruction. Knowing that this power could easily be used for evil in the wrong hands, Prechet hid the crystal in the guild’s basement, with the intention to pass along this information to whoever became the next guild master.
The Lumen Histoire’s Power
Also known as Fairy Heart, the Lumen Histoire is renowned for its infinite magical power, capable of wreaking immense havoc. Due to its unfathomable strength, Makarov dubbed it asFairy tail’s ‘ultimate weapon’, a title befitting such a power. It is said that if the Lumen Histoire were used to charge the Magic Council’s Etherion Cannon, it could be fired an infinite amount of times, meaning it could potentially destroy the whole continent of Ishgar.

Due to its infinite strength, many have tried to get their hands on the Lumen Histore’s power. Ivan Drayer, Makarov’s son, created Raven Tail for the sole purpose of gaining the Fairy Heart’s power.Zeref also intended to use the lacrima-infused powerfor his own goals, yet his plans were foiled once he realized that the Lumen Histoire’s power can only be accessed through Mavis’ will, meaning no adversary could never utilize this unfettered power.
Knowledge About the Lumen Histoire
As the Fairy Heart is the guild’s biggest secret, knowledge about the Lumen Histoire and its whereabouts are limited, with only a few aware of its existence in the whole continent. Initially, only Prechet had knowledge about the Lumen Histoireand its dark secret, which he passed down to Makarov, Fairy Tail’s third guild master. After that, it became a tradition in the guild to pass down this information to every successive guild master. Makarov revealed this information to Gildarts to make him the next guild master, however, the S-tier mage ran off on a quest to avoid bearing the responsibility.
Fairy Tail’s allies aren’t the only one aware of this magic power’s existence, as a few adversaries are aware that such a secret lies beneath the guild. Makarov’s son, Ivan Drayer, somehow found out about the power, and tried to steal the Lumen Histoire for himself. Zeref was also aware of Mavis’ body encased permanently in a lacrima, as he set up a plot to gain that power through exploiting the Alvarez Empire to invade Ishgar. However, his plan failed when the Magic Council threatened to fire the Etherion Cannon to stop the invasion. Considering the Lumen Histoire’s significance, it’s safe to assume that this unfathomable magic power is bound to be used by Fairy Tail as a plot device in the upcoming chapters.
