There are several different variations of them in the game. They differ in the necessary resources for crafting and the amount of Electricity produced.
How to Use Generators in Fallout 4
Once you place the Generator in your Settlement, you need to connect it to the necessary devices, such as the Lightbulb. It requires 1 Electricity to operate, so with the Small Generator, you can power up to 3 Lightbulbs.
To make them work, you must run wires from the Generator to them. However, they have a limited length, so you may need Power Pylons. With their help, you’re able to stretch the wires as far as you want. Alternatively, players can use Conduit to power a building without multiple wires inFallout 4. Just place one or more Conduits on the outside of the building and connect them to the Generators. In this case, everything you place inside will be automatically powered by the same Generators.
