How Did the First Season of Fallout End?

The first season of Prime Video’sFalloutmanaged to answer plenty of questions, while teasing what was in store forSeason 2. Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, spends the first season trying to find her father, after he is taken away to the surface bythe mysterious Lee Moldaver. During her journey to try and save her father, Lucy meets ascientist named Siggi Wilzig, who tries to persuade her to return to the vault. She opts not to listen, and instead, finds herself in the midst of a shootout in Philly. There, she meets Maximus and The Ghoul, who are after the bounty on Wilzig’s head.

When Lucy is sent away as a means to try and protect Wilzig, she soon finds herself forced to cut off his head after he takes cynanide pills, knowing his injuries are far too severe to make the journey. Despite Lucy’s resistance at first, she ends up securing Wilzig’s head and sets off on the journey to try and save her father and deliver the head to Moldaver. She isn’t the only one after the head, though. She eventually finds herself having to fend off others for the head, including The Ghoul and Maximus.

While it’s clear that Wilzig’s head is important, it isn’t until the final episode of the season that viewers learn why. When Lucy finally makes it to Moldaver, with Maximus having returned to the Brotherhood in hopes of letting her get away safely, she learns why the head and her father were both important for the mission. As it turns out, Moldaver isn’t the villain the series sets her up to be. Rather, the villain is none other than the people whom viewers were taught were the good guys early on. After Maldover secures the capsule containing cold fusion from Wilzig’s neck, she tells Lucy that her father wasn’t born in the vaults as she believes. He was actually born on the surface and worked for Vault-Tec, the company that ultimately caused the nuclear fallout.

As Lucy learns the truth about her father, and her mother as well, her brother stumbles upon the secrets of Vault 31. It turns out that the vault has served as the home to the higher-ups at Vault-Tec for over two hundred years.

What Does the Ending Mean for the Future?

After Lucy learns that her father was the bad guy, having burned down Shady Sands after her mother took them away from the vaults, she decides not to save him. Unfortunately, though, Maximus releases Hank from the cage before she can tell him the truth. Hank steals the power armor and flies off, as The Ghoul reveals he’s known Hank for a long, long time. Viewers are not sure where Hank flies off to until the very end of the episode. Viewers see him approaching what looks to be Las Vegas, suggesting the series will betaking inspiration fromFallout: New Vegasfor the upcoming second season.

With Hank on the loose, Lucy and The Ghoul set out after him. Meanwhile, Maximus once again finds himself in luck after Moldaver is killed by a gunshot. With this, the Brotherhood believes that Maxiumus took down the former leader of the New California Republic.

The finale allows the world ofFalloutto open up even more, with the charactersmoving from California to Las Vegas. It also allows for theintroduction of more characters, such as The Courier and Mr. House, and more exploration into the world beyond California. With the revelation of Vault 31, the series also has the chance to reveal the truth to those within the Vaults. It also creates the potential for a more complex story for Lucy’s brother, Norm, who has thus far remained on the sidelines. With plenty of questions still to answer, fans ofFalloutshould be excited to see what the show’s creators come up with when the series re-enters production.
