First revealed at the 2023 Las Vegas Fan Fest, theFinal Fantasy 14andFall Guyscollaborationwas one of the most unexpected collaborations of 2023. InFall Guys, the Warrior of Lights Fame Pass was available from August 22 to October 3, which gave players the chance to earnFF14-themed outfits inFall Guysbased on characters such as a Chocobo, a Namazu, and a Dragoon. While the Fame Pass had run its course by the timeFinal Fantasy 14started its side of the collaboration, players wondered whenFall Guyswould make its way to Eorzea. However, players would not have to wait too much longer to experience the Blunderdome for themselves.

TheFall Guyscrossover arrived inFinal Fantasy 14with the release of Patch 6.51 on Halloween. On the r/ffxiv subreddit,Final Fantasy 14players shared testimonies about their experiences within the Blunderdome and the frustrations that came with the way the game’s servers handled the new attraction. In two videos shared by Reddit users anixall and ipsusu, the race for the crown was marred by server ticks that registered the location of themselves and other players differently from one another. In anixall’s clip, their character was hit by a falling object despite their character being farther away from it. In ipsusu’s clip, their character was in range to jump for the crown, but the game granted the crown to another player who seemingly was behind but then was shown to be ahead a few frames later.
In another video shared by a Redditor named Lokiberry from Saucery Seige round, their character was stunned by a sliding barrier that they had moved out of over a second prior. This hit stunned the player, caused them to drop their crystal, and forced them to start their run again. In the comments of each video,Final Fantasy 14players provided different suggestions for Square Enix to implement. Although this issue is far from the onlybug with the Patch 6.5 series, Square Enix had yet to comment on it at the time of writing.
With new rewards andachievements forFinal Fantasy 14playersto get, theFall Guyscollaboration will run until New Year’s Eve. Only time will tell what Square Enix will do to address player complaints.
