Square Enix has released a new update forForspokenalong with patch notes detailing the changes, though players may be a little disappointed with what’s on offer when it comes to Update 1.04. Since the patch only fixes some minor localization issues and other smaller bugs related to the game’s controls and settings, players suffering from performance issues and major bugs will need to wait for a futureForspokenupdate.

As one of the firstmajor AAA releases of 2023,Forspokenwas met with rather high expectations after years of hype and promotion behind the open world Square Enix adventure game. Unfortunately,Forspokenfailed to impress critics and gamers, earning decidedly mixed reviews across the board. While many negative reviews were due to subjective issues like the game’s dialogue, characters, and gameplay mechanics, many gamers struggled with glaring bugs, performance issues, and glitches that made the game difficult to enjoy at all. As a result,Forspokenwas review bombed on Metacritic, with an abysmal 1.7/10 user score next to the 63 Metascore from critics.

Similar to the recentForspoken1.03 update, this latest patch is a bit lacking in substance, only bringing a handful of minor fixes that fail to address the main issues that players have been struggling with. The update is also mostly populated with PC fixes, so PS5 gamers may be a bit irked at having to go through the update process at all for this. The patch fixes technical issues on PC such as Xinput devices messing up camera movement, FSR settings unintentionally resetting, and issues when PC gamers use a PS5 DaulSense controller.

Although most changes are focused onissues withForspoken’s PC port, a few tweaks have been made for all versions of the game. These changes are mostly text-related, such as an updated font for Traditional/Simplified Chinese, updated system text when items are unlocked, and system text related to the mouse config update. The patch also includes vague general notes like “various minor fixes” and “minor optimizations for certain features,” so there may be a chance that struggling players may see a fix or two that hasn’t been listed.

Earlier this month,Forspoken’s director promised a patch that would improve performance, graphics, and playability, so there’s still hope for gamers experiencing problems with the title. However, it doesn’t seem terribly likely that any amount of patching will help withForspoken’s hefty system requirementsand massive file size.
