Genshin Impacthas officially addressed the recent Co-Op hack plaguing the game’s Chinese servers, fixing and reverting the status of affected players' worlds. Throughout the lifespan of HoYoverse’s massively popular RPG, the developer has regularly taken action against players using third-party software to modify their games.HoYoverse has particularly targeted players using software to cheatwithin the RPG’s live servers, as well as several users running private servers forGenshin Impact. Now, the developer has come to a resolution with its most recent cheating controversy.
HoYoverse would see one of its biggest cheating scandals emerge in the past week withGenshin Impactplayers reporting instances of cheating in Co-Op games. Using a combination of four-star character Kaveh and a third-party software, malicious players were able to delete important objects from others' worlds in Co-Op, including Statues of the Seven and puzzle mechanisms. Once deleted, the objects would reportedly not return to that player’s world, even when re-installing the game or logging in through a different client. Now, however, HoYoverse has confirmed it has officially dealt with the problem.

In an update posted toGenshin Impact’s official social media accounts, HoYoverse reveals that the developer has fixed the ongoing issue over the weekend. TheGenshin Impactdeveloper confirms it has restored the damaged accounts of affected players, returning the important items to their game world. While HoYoverse would add that a few accounts have yet to see some minor items restored, the post stated the team would continue to “monitor the situation with Co-Op.” HoYoverse also confirmed it had banned the players using theGenshin Impactcheating tool.
HoYoverse concludes the announcement post by calling on players to continue to report instances of others using third-party plug-ins. The developer urges players who notice violations of the game’s Terms of Service to report those users to the developer’s official customer service, including their UID within the ticket. The studio has often called on its large playerbase toreportGenshin Impactplayersusing illegal third-party software within the game, issuing several bannings and even pursuing legal actions against some cheaters.
Genshin Impact’s newest hacking controversy comes at a time when the game’s newest update has been the center of attention for players.Fontaine’s addition toGenshin Impacthas brought a wide variety of content to the RPG, including a new region to explore and plenty of bosses to challenge. The Version 4.0 update also introduced a trio of new characters from the Hydro region, with two more on the way in Version 4.1. The resolution ofGenshin Impact’s Co-Op hack should allow players to more safely explore the world of Teyvat with their fellow Travelers in the future.
