A new leak fromGenshin Impactshares details about the progression of a potentially scrapped story quest for five-star character Qiqi, complete with nearly finished voice lines. Throughout the HoYoverse RPG’s more than two-year-long history, plenty of characters have gotten their time in the spotlight through both the game’s main story and character-specific quests. Many of the RPG’s newest characters receive their own focused questline, with some likeYoimiya even seeing second chaptersto their Story Quests. Now, a new leak reveals a Story Quest for one of the game’s oldest characters.
WhenGenshin Impactoriginally launched in September 2020, Qiqi was one of the first five-star characters to be featured in the RPG’s lineup. Qiqi is introduced as a zombie girl resurrected by an Adeptus, working at Bubu Pharmacy under the care of Baizhu. Qiqi was a popular choice as a healer for many players early in the game’s lifespan and has since taken on new life as a recurring joke for players losing their “50/50” with the game’s gacha. A new leak, however, reveals Qiqi was once meant to have a more prominent role inGenshin Impact.

A new leak shared fromGenshin Impact’s older datamines by prominent leaker Lumie has revealed details about apreviously in-development Story Quest for Qiqi. The questline would see players teaming up with Qiqi to help find a cure for a mother and child stricken with a mysterious illness. The Story Quest would have delved more into Qiqi’s personality and shown off the severity of the character’s memory loss. The leak even features nearly fully recorded English voice lines for the entire Story Quest, apparently only lackingvoice acting for Paimon’s dialogue.
The inclusion of a Story Quest for Qiqi would have added more background for the character who has seen few significant appearances throughoutGenshin Impact. Qiqi stands as one of only two members of the game’s initial five-star lineup to not receive their own Story Quest. Diluc, Mona, Jean, and limited five-star character Venti have all featured in Story Quests withinGenshin Impact. Keqing also does not star in her own Story Quest, but she plays a prominent role both in the main story for Liyue andseveral Liyue-focused events.
While Qiqi’s Story Quest was apparently scrapped early in the game’s life, recent updates fromGenshin Impacthave seen a much heavier emphasis placed on Story Quests. Newerfive-star characters like Alhaithamand Dehya typically receive their own Story Quest within one or two updates following their debut. The game’s Hangout quests have also featured several new four-star characters like Faruzan and Kaveh getting their time in the spotlight. Qiqi fans can only hopeGenshin Impactmay re-visit the character’s story in the future.
Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
