TheHalofranchise has always had an awkward relationship with the sprint mechanic. WhenHalo: Reachadded sprint as optional armor ability, it was relatively inoffensive as fans of the franchise could just ignore it. However, subsequentHalogames have kept sprint and made it a mandatory part of the movement system, with fans complaining that it makes the games feel likeCall of Dutyor actually slows down the gameplay because players can’t shoot while sprinting. Regardless of how one feels about sprinting inHalo, it’s been confirmed that the next game in the long-running franchise,Halo Infinite, will have sprint.

This was confirmed when Microsoft showcased thefirst-everHalo Infinitecampaign footageat the Xbox Games Showcase event. And as expected, there has been a mixed reaction from the community. It seems many fans don’t care that sprint is inHalo Infinite, but others are upset that it’s returning, as they feel as though the inclusion of sprint has a big impact on the flow of the game and makes it feel less likeHalo.

Of course,Halo Infinitehas even more movement options than pastHalogames, which could also prove to be quite controversial. TheHalo Infinitegrappling hook looks as though it will change things up considerably, both in terms of movement and combat, and it remains to be seen how exactly fans will react to it. There’s been a mixed reception so far, but no one has actually been able to go hands-on to see what it’s like in action.

There’s a chanceHalo Infinitefans will be able to try the grappling hook mechanic prior to launch. While it’s been suggested thatHalo Infinite’s public beta plansare being scaled back, it’s still possible that one will take place and that the grappling hook will be featured in multiplayer. Then again, it’s also possible that the grappling hook and some of the other features in the campaign won’t be inHalo Infinite’s multiplayer at all. 343 has not revealed any multiplayer footage to date, so all fans can do is speculate about what it will entail.

SinceHalo Infiniteis launching with the Xbox Series Xlater this year, more information should come to light sooner rather than later.

Halo Infinitewill launch later this year for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
