Maybe the most recognized story arc of all time is the hero’s journey, one which powerhouse fantasy franchises use to great effect. Whether it’s humble hobbits trying to destroy a ring or an orphan discovering their destiny in a galaxy far, far away, these heroes do miraculous deeds and save untold numbers of people. But for heroes to shine, others must fall, and that’s where generic enemies likeLord of the Rings' orcs andStar Wars' Stormtrooperscome in. Stormtroopers are particularly notorious for their poor aim, though it turns out random hunters inThe Elder Scrolls 5:Skyrimmight just be worse.
Star Wars BattlefrontandThe Elder Scrollsare storied game franchises that offer players a chance to become legends. In order to do this, players must chew through various enemies to become stronger. InStar Warsthis might look like taking on waves of Stormtroopers, units that seem to canonically be bad a hitting anything in front of them. InSkyrim, players can trek all over fighting different creatures, though they might run into groups of hunters from time to time. One player ran into some hunters after their prey, and they just about make Stormtroopers look like elite snipers.

While walking through the snowy mountains ofSkyrim, Reddit member britenitelite122 came upon a dead hunter and a dead frost troll. After pulling some arrows out of the troll, they continued up the mountain to see a rabbit surrounded by arrows. Not a bit worried about encountering any ofSkyrim’s deadly creatures, the rabbit simply chills as more arrows sink into the snow. Looking back, britenitelite122 sees two hunters firing arrows from their camp with atrocious accuracy.
The hungry hunters proceed to fire at least seven more arrows at the unflinching rabbit. These shots range from alright to not even close. Britenitelite122 shares a cryptic look withSkyrimcompanion Lydia, who seems to be desperately trying to look away from the ridiculous sight. Eventually, one hunter pulls a lucky shot from the ether and the brazen rabbit goes down. Even the hunters seem embarrassed by the situation, avoiding eye contact with the player as they head back to camp.
One commenter on the video was quick to dub these hunters “Stormtroopers in the making,” which seems about right. The whole scene is similar to one inStar Wars Episode 4: A New Hope, where space smuggler Han Solo somehow avoids blaster shots from a regiment of Stormtroopers in a narrow hallway. How these hunters have survived this long in the wild is a mystery, but they definitely aren’t the first example ofSkyrimNPCs doing things that make no sense.
