With the official announcement ofHogwarts Legacy, the upcomingHarry Potter RPG,comes the wonderment of what locations, characters, and magical objects players can expect to see in the game.
Hogwarts Legacyis set in the late 1800s, an era that the lore has only touched upon lightly. As an open-world title with vast amounts of lore to explore, players are bound to come across manymagical objects during their time at Hogwarts. Many have been around for several centuries, while others were actually created during this time period. Unfortunately, some objects haven’t yet been created and fans won’t be able to see them in the upcoming game, such as the Marauder’s Map, for example. Some items could simply be interesting to interact with while others could expand on important lore from the franchise.

The Vanishing Cabinets
The Borgin and Burkes Vanishing Cabinets are one of the powerful Wizarding World items that was created around the time thatHogwarts Legacywill take place. The Cabinets appear a few times throughout the book series, but they served as an important catalyst to the Death Eaters invading Hogwarts inHalf-Blood Prince.Though witches and wizards cannot apparate or use floo powder as forms of transportation, the Vanishing Cabinets somehow still work. Sources say that theCabinets were made sometime before 1980, and because no other information is known about this pair of items, it would be interesting to see the origins of the Vanishing Cabinets seen in Hogwarts Legacy.
Enchanted Quills
Quills are an average, everyday item of the Wizarding World, but the legitimate use in Hogwarts can get students into some trouble, and this is why they would make an interestingsubtle addition toHogwarts Legacy. There are many types of enchanted quills such as anti-cheating quills and sugar quills that taste like candy and can be nibbled on during classes. For the Slytherin students out there, there are also self-writing quills that provide answers and are banned during tests, but many more conniving students are known to use them anyways. But the most interesting of the bunch is Umbridge’s Black Quill, a torture device used to punish students by branding words into their skin. It has no known origin, so the Black Quill could put a dark twist on the upcoming RPG.
Potions
It’s already known that Potions Class will be one of the many playable parts of the game thanks toHogwarts Legacy’s announcement trailer, but it would be intriguing if players had the opportunity to use more powerful ones throughout the game. It’s likely that the Polyjuice Potion will make an appearance and would be even more enticing if the player could make it. Felix Felicis, also known as Liquid Luck, is incredibly powerful but also inherently difficult to make, but it is taught at Hogwarts, or at least it is during Harry’s sixth year at school.

The Mirror of Erised
The mirror that shows one’s greatest desires appeared during theHarry Potterfilms as well asFantastic Beasts, but it was another item that was mysteriously invented during the late 1800s like the Vanishing Cabinets. Official sources say that it was created by an unknown wizard around 1890 for simple fun but rather caused many to waste their lives away in front of the mirror. It’s been hiding in the room of requirement since approximately 1891, so it could be an opportunity forHogwarts Legacyto explore its creation.
Ressurection Stone
As one of the three Deathly Hallows, the Ressurection Stone is one of the most powerful magical objects in the Wizarding World. But unlike the other two, it doesn’t get as much spotlight as Harry’s Cloak of Invisibility or Dumbledore’s Elder Wand. Tom Riddle would turn it into a horcrux and, prior to its destruction, it caused Dumbledore’s life expectancy to shorten. In addition to it making fewer appearances throughout the main series, the Ressurection Stone is considered by some to be the darkest of the three objects, which couldtie intoHogwarts Legacy’s narrativewell if it’s meant to be a darker game, as some rumors have suggested.
Hogwarts Legacyis set for a 2021 release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
