Harry Potterfans have been looking forward toHogwarts Legacyfor years now, and the wait is nearly at an end. WhileHogwarts Legacyis without a release date at the time of this writing, it’s still scheduled to launch at some point later this year. In-depth gameplay videos and impressive trailers have been shown off for the game, so now it’s just a matter of the release date being announced.

WhileHarry Potterfans wait to learn theHogwarts Legacyrelease date, they may want to take a look at a cut-scene of the game that was shown at the Autodesk Vision Series. This cut-scene is rather brief, but it does show an interesting story development that will apparently happen during the game. In it, the player character and a fellowHogwarts studentsee a trio of wizards pelting a hippogriff with spells. As it turns out, theHogwarts Legacyplayer character knows the hippogriff and wants to save it.

TheHogwarts Legacyplayer character attempts to follow their classmate through a pair of massive doors, but they’re locked out. They then decide to find another way around, with the camera panning over to show a potential way forward. It’s a relatively brief cut-scene, but it does seem to indicate that theHogwarts Legacyplayer characterwill have important relationships with the magical beasts they meet during the course of the game’s story.

For those who may not be entirely familiar withHarry Potterlore, a hippogriff is essentially a combination of an oversized eagle and a horse. A hippogriff named Buckbeak plays a key role inHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and it appears the hippogriff inHogwarts Legacywill similarly play an important role in the story. However, fans will have to play through the game themselves to know for sure.

Again, theHogwarts Legacyrelease date is currently unknown. However, an Amazon leak has suggested that theHogwarts Legacyrelease datewill early December. That has yet to be verified, but such a release date would make sense. It would make sure thatHogwarts Legacyis out just in time for the holiday shopping season, plus it would put a little distance between the game and other heavy hitters launching at the end of the year, likeGod of War RagnarokandPokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Hogwarts Legacyhas one big advantage over those games, though, and that is the fact that it is a multi-platform title.Hogwarts Legacyis coming to Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, soHarry Potterfans will be able to check it out regardless of their platform of choice.

Hogwarts Legacyis in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
