At release, the mobile game launched to unfavorable reviews, and despite its free-to-play status, its critics and players were not happy with the amount ofmicrotransactions needed to continue Hogwarts Mystery’s storywithout having to wait for energy to reload. Additionally, some quests were placed on a timer, and players who weren’t able to properly time their energy refills or simply pay for them weren’t able to complete these missions, which disappointed manyHarry Potterfans after a decent buzz of excitement leading up to the mobile game’s release.
