Sony plans to shut down the PlayStation Store on legacy consoles this summer, making hundreds of games for the PSP, PS Vita, and PS3 unobtainable once it does. Among those games are over 130 PS2 Classics. Players who already own games from the library will still play and download them. With enough storage and deep pockets, it is possible to purchase every PS2 game available on the PlayStation Store before it closes down for good on older devices.
At the latest count, there are around 134PS2 Classics available, give or take. Most of these games have a $9.99 price tag, with some games sporting a cost of $34.99. If a Sony fan wanted to snag each of these games, it would run them$1,604.66. Keep in mind that games go on sale now and then, and sometimes titles are added/removed as well.

The Classics
With over 13- PS2 available on the PlayStation store, how many of the games are truly classic?Dark Cloud 1 /2certainly fit the bill, as doesDisgaea: Hour of Darkness.TheGrand Theft Autotitles certainly stand out from the PS2 era, as well asJak and DaxterandKatamari Damacy. Then there isOdin Sphere, PaRappa The Rapper 2, Resident Evil: Code: Veronica X, Twisted Metal: Black, andWild Arms 3.Players who snagged these games would pay$209.86for some of the best the PS2 had to offer, minus some titles not included in Sony’s offering.
Shutting Down
Many of the PS2 classics are available on the PS4, so owners of the last-gen console will still be able to get their hands on any of the titles. PS3 users will lose access to thePlayStation Storeon August 10, 2025. Currently, none of the PS2 classics are available on the PSP or PS Vita, which will lose access to the PlayStation Store on June 27, 2025, and July 08, 2025 respectively.
Once closed, users will still be able to download any game they previously purchases, though Sony has not stated for how long or if that capability will eventually end as well. Multi-platform purchases will still work, so if a title purchased on the PS4 or PS5 has a PS3 version, that title will show on the PS3’s Download List. As forPlayStation Plus titles, they will always be available to redownload as long as members continue to renew their subscriptions. This shutdown also means that any unredeemed gift cards will become useless, though any money in a player’s PSN wallet will still be usable with PS4 and PS5 content. Any unused wallet funds will be available for a refund once each console’s store closes.
