TheJokerhas become easily one of the most popular comic book characters of all time, and his star rose with Joaquin Phoenix’s film. Lady Gaga has joined the cast ofJoker 2, reportedly as Harley Quinn, and the cinematographer, Lawrence Sher, recently spoke praise about Gaga’s casting.
Joker: Folie à Deuxis a highly anticipated film. Many thought that a sequel would never happen after much talk from behind the scenes with all the talent. Thehard part about doing aJokersequelis that it’s very easy to ruin what made the first film incredible. It’s also usually challenging to try to meet the high expectations that the audience has for the next film. The one thing this film has going for it is that it wasn’t rushed like most sequels typically are in order to capitalize on the hype levels.

Speaking toThe Hollywood Reporter,Joker 2cinematographer Lawrence Sher shared nothing but great things aboutGaga’s Harley Quinn inJoker 2. “She’s going to be a really cool fit for this movie and will create a similar kind of magic that Joaquin brought by himself,” the cinematographer started. “The combination of the two will be exactly what we hope, which is exciting, and we’ll find magic every day on set. Hopefully, we’ll also have a bit of madness in there. We like when there is a little bit of chaos.”
Joker 2will be following the events of the first film and pick up on what fans loved about it. The new movie is set to bring in more elements by first and foremost having Harley Quinn join. It’s unclear what Bruce Wayne’s role will be or how much time has passed since the original film.Jokerhad its own take on the world of Gotham and made it much more grounded than what comic book fans are used to, yet they still really loved it. With that being said, it’s unclear how they’ll portray Harley Quinn’s origin but it’s likely she won’t be falling into a pit of acid since the Joker didn’t do that either. The character has only grown in popularity over the years, andHarley Quinn is set to return to the DCEUin the future.
The Joker is very popular but some may argue that the character is utilized too much. Batman has a plethora of villains that don’t nearly get enough shine, yet everything regarding Batman has to always include the Joker as if he’s crucial to every plot. Mr. Freeze, Red Hood, Deathstroke, Clayface, Poison Ivy, Talia Al Ghul, the Ventriloquist, and Scarecrow are some of Batman’s other villains that could use some attention. Hopefully moving forward fans get to see more of what Gotham andthe DC villains have to offer.
Joker: Folie àDeuxis scheduled to be released in theaters on June 01, 2025.
