It turns out the director feels there are limits to the kind of praise he’s willing to accept. That was demonstrated when one fan took to Twitter to ask, “at what point do we declare Jordan Peele the best horror director of all time?” When comic book artist Adam Ellis asked that question, he probably didn’t expect Jordan Peele himself to respond in the negative. However, theNopedirectordid indeed notice Ellis calling him the greatest director and was quick to make it clear that he believes there is still someone else who holds that title when it comes to the horror genre.

Peele first responded by begging Ellis to put the phone down because he didn’t agree with the sentiment. He then went on to say that while he loved Ellis' enthusiasm for his work, Peele would not “tolerate any John Carpenter slander.” Horror fans, of course, know that Carpenter has indeed put out some of the most acclaimed horror movies of the last few decades. He was the man who made Kurt Russell a household name inthe horror genre withThe Thing, and he’s also the man behind one of the most beloved horror franchises in the history of horror franchises:Halloween.

While it might be the case that Carpenter’s picks didn’t always get the best rating, Peele’s have been quite successful so far, adding to his legend.
