Kingdom Heartsfans have been desperate to see the series make the jump to Nintendo Switch. While the possibility of previous games being ported over still seems like a pipe-dream, we will be getting a rhythm game spin-offKingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, which isnow confirmed to be releasing on November 13th.
The announcement came as part ofa surprise Nintendo Direct Mini which released today. WhileMelody of Memorywon’t be exclusive to Switch, with it to also release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the new trailer revealed that Switch owners will have access to an exclusive multiplayer mode.

While all versions will come with online and local multiplayer, allowing players to compete against each other for high-scores, Switch owners can enjoy Free-for-All mode, which offers local play for up to eight players.
The trailer also reveals several more music tracks of the 140+ that will be available, all hailing from across the entire series, including series staple Simple and Clean by Utada Hikaru, Vector to the Heavens (the final boss music from358/2 Days), and evenFrozen’s Let It Go, which comes with the recreated scene used inKingdom Hearts 3.
Other features include a music player, allowing players to enjoy all the music at their own leisure, and cutscene compilations of the previous games, most likely to act as a recap of the story so far.
Speaking of story, details about that are still scarce. What we do know is that it’s set after the events ofKingdom Hearts 3and all signs point towards Kairi playing a much more prominent role, with her taking center stage in the newly revealed key art.
According to series director Tetsuya Nomura, we’ll be seeing one last trailer for the game drop in only a couple of days, which will most likely provide some more glimpses at the game’s story.
Melody of Memoryisn’t the only thingKingdom Heartsfans have to look forward to in November. The game will be coinciding with theofficial release of theKingdom Hearts 3soundtrack, which is releasing worldwide only a couple of days beforehand on November 11th and will not only include music fromKingdom Hearts 3, but alsoKingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts Union X,and theKingdom Hearts 3 Re: MindDLC.
And this isn’t even getting into the fact that the mobile games,Union XandDark Road, still haven’t finished their respective stories, with more updates still planned to further expand the backstory for the series and possibly hint towards future story developments.
Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memorywill release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 13th.
