Leaker Pyoro, who has accurately leaked Nintendo news in the past, has started teasing fans about what they might see at the September 2023 Direct. They recently tweeted a gif of Donkey Kong fromThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, hinting that aDonkey Kongannouncement could be happening at the Direct. A newDonkey Konggame has been rumored for quite some time, so it wouldn’t be unbelievable that such a game exists and could be getting revealed at the Direct, especially if the game is in development for the Nintendo Switch and not Nintendo’s new console.

Previously, leakers suggested that Nintendo had both aDonkey Konggame and a 2DSuper Mariogame in development, with Nintendo supposedly planning on giving a big push to theDKfranchise in general, which would include aDonkey Kong-themed expansion at Super Nintendo World. Since then, the 2DSuper Mariogame has been announced as has theDonkey Kongexpansion at Super Nintendo World, so it’s easy to believe the rumors that a newDKgame announcement is imminent.

Of course, it’s possible that theDonkey Kongannouncement at the September 2023 Nintendo Direct is something else entirely. After all, there are a number ofDonkey Kongvideo games that have yet to hit the Nintendo Switch Online service, so perhaps the franchise’s presence at the Direct will be related to that instead. Then again, Nintendo could very well confirm olderDonkey Konggames for Switch Online as well as announce abrand-newDonkey Konggame, especially if the rumors about the company wanting to give the franchise a bigger push are accurate.

In the meantime, a newDonkey Konggame isn’t the only thing that Pyoro has hinted at being at the next Nintendo Direct. It’s also been teased thatF-Zerocould make an appearance, though some fans have interpreted that hint differently and think thatMetroid Prime 4will be featured instead. Ultimately, fans will just have to wait for the next Nintendo Direct to see if there’s any legitimacy to these leaks and rumors.
