WhileLies of Pis still months away from hitting the market, Round8 Studio’s action RPG has already been treated to a mod that leans into the game’sBloodbornesimilarities. That’s largely thanks to thenew demo that this upcoming Xbox Game Pass release receivedat the 2023 Summer Game Fest.

While its premise centers on retelling the story of Pinocchio in a decisively more grimdark fashion, the next game from the creators ofBless Unleashedis first and foremost a soulslike. Between that andthe Victorian horrors permeatingLies of P, the South Korean developers can do little to escapeBloodbornecomparisons.

TheLies of Pdemo has now even received aBloodbornemod that extends its likeness to FromSoftware’s hit PS4 exclusive. The creation was authored by Garden of Eyes, a group with a prolifictrack record of moddingBloodbornefeatures intoElden Ring.Lies of Pprompted these developers to move out of their comfort zone a bit, not least because they labeled the Neowiz-published RPG as one of this year’s most anticipated games. Garden of Eyes consequently released its firstLies of Pmod on June 14, which adds Hunter weapons and armor fromBloodborneto the PC version of the game’s demo.

The mod is available to Garden of Eyes' Patreon supporters paying for the group’s Hunter subscription tier, which is priced at $5 a month. The subscription comes with access to the team’s custom mod launcher and all of its content, among other benefits. As for Garden of Eyes' latest creation, the developers already committed to expanding on thisBloodbornecontent pack forLies of Pin the future.

But even this early version of the mod might help add to the demo’s replay value, which is already fairly substantial. And while Hunter equipment doesn’t feel out of place inLies of P, that’s not to say that Round8’s upcoming title will be a mereBloodbornecopycat. On the contrary, the game’s demo already revealed thatLies of Pmakes oneBloodbornefeature much more punishing, which presumably won’t be the only unique spin it puts on the soulslike formula.

Another piece of evidence contributing to this theory is the fact that Round8 previously describedLies of P’ssimilarities toBloodborneas largely unintentional. That notwithstanding, the Neowiz-owned studio labeled the comparisons to FromSoftware’s 2015 hit as an honor, vowing it will strive to deliver an experience worthy of the fandom’s rising expectations for the game.

Lies of Plaunches September 19 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
