Every mission inMarvel’s Midnight Sunsis a chance for players to test their strategic and tactical skills. While not open-world, the superhero RPG has a goodmix of turn-based combat, exploration, and relationship-building. These directly affect the team’s strength and power during missions, so nurturing all of them is the best way to move through the storyline with the least amount of difficulty.

Missionsare where players get to put the playable character, the Hunter, and other Marvel heroes' powers to the test in the form of skill cards. Missions will usually have one or two main objectives that must be completed to finish them. At the end of each mission, players will be given astar ratingon a 1-3 scale. Let’s review how these ratings work and what they mean for the gameplay inMarvel’s Midnight Suns.

What Are Mission Ratings

Mission ratings are a way for the game tokeep track of players' successand reward them accordingly. So naturally, the more stars, the better the rewards will be. Rewards include XP, Gloss, or difficulty modes. The difficulty modes include Story, Normal, Heroic (1-3), and Ultimate (1-3), and they all grant varying levels of XP and Gloss, which are used to purchase cosmetic and customization items and tools.

However, each consecutive mode will come with more arduous battle conditions, such as no revives or more reinforcements at the end of each turn and stronger enemies. Therefore, players should beprepared with balanced decksand leveled-up companions when taking on missions in Heroic and Ultimate modes.

How To Get 3 Stars

There are a few things taken into consideration regarding mission ratings. They are determined by the following:

Missions completed in a timely manner with no KOs and a boss battle are most likely to get a 3-star rating. In contrast, missions that take longeror have multiple teammateskilled are more apt to result in 1-2 star ratings. The best mission strategy is to focus on the main boss/objective rather than the little guys. More and more enemies will spawn the more rounds there are; even after defeating the primary target, players will still have to deal with the stragglers to complete the objectives.

Players should have a mix of support and offensive moves to minimize damage and card plays. Choosing the best heroes to complete missions with plays a huge part in successful missions since certain ones are stacked with different kinds of moves. For example,Ghost Rider’s specialty is damage, and many of his cards are overpowered and have high power levels, so taking down big enemies is no problem.

However, this comes at a steep price because his strongest attacks zap damage from him simultaneously. So, having support moves can keep him from getting KO’d and prevent losing any stars. Furthermore, most missions will send the Hunter and only let players choose one other hero and preselect the other. Luckily, the Hunter is a great way to keep balance, as they can excel in either offense or defense.
