It is now 2023, which means fans are finally in the release year forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. It is always best to temper excitement while little has been shown from a game, but Insomniac Games has earned itself a ton of goodwill with how popular and successful itsMarvel’s Spider-Manfranchise has been on PlayStation. Fans will take as little or as much information as Insomniac will give them, and the recent news thatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will launch this fall could be as much as fans learn about the game for the foreseeable future.
It has always been assumed thatMarvel’s Spider-Manwould receive a full-fledged sequel, reinforced by the launch ofMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ standalone title and the post-credits teases that appeared in both installments. Insomniac then released a teaser forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2at the PlayStation Showcase in 2021, which revealed Venom and seemingly hinted at Kraven the Hunter. Insomniac is therefore hard at work on the sequel and its newMarvel’s Wolverinegame, which was also revealed at the showcase, but the former is overdue for a new trailer soon.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Could Get a New Trailer at Any Time
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2has been absent since its appearance in 2021. Trailers for the game are inevitable, but the question now is how long fans will have to wait to get their newest one. The fortunate part about the timing of a new trailer is that fans will probably see it coming from a mile away. Once a new PlayStation Showcase is finally announced, odds are good thatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will appear there. Enough time has certainly gone by that a new trailer could be considered overdue, so Insomniac may present one soon, even if it’s only another tonal teaser that only sheds light on a subplot or reveals what a couple characters will look like.
It would have been fortuitous to release a trailer around the time thatSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Versereleased its own, which featuredMarvel’s Spider-Man’s iteration of the character wearing the iconic Advanced Suit. This certainly would have been a relevant time forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2to put out a new teaser, but unfortunately it stayed out of sight. Instead, Insomniac could drop a trailer in a PlayStation Showcase at any time between now and fall.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Fans May Already Know All They Need to
Insomniac can afford to take its time with marketing and not reveal anything well into summer. That is the trust it has earned with how spectacular and beloved its games are. If a delay was to hitMarvel’s Spider-Man 2then that may incite the urgent desire for a trailer, but at this point the franchise needs no introduction. Spoilers are always an issue to consider, especially with leaks in the gaming industry being as rampant as they are, andSpider-Man 2’s public image would be better off if Insomniac is prepared to show more of the game in an official capacity.Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s first teaser actually showed a lot more than fans may have initially thought it would, revealing Venom and potentially Kraven as antagonists.
There are multiple narrative threadsMarvel’s Spider-Man 2could pick up on from previous installments, and a future trailer might touch on those threads. Whether a trailer drops early this year or not until the summer,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2remains an anticipated 2023 title.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is scheduled to release in Fall 2023 on PS5.
