Mortal Kombat 11’s next DLC character is the notorious DC Comics villain The Joker, and while his initial reveal was met with some backlash, fans seem mostly satisfied with the redesigned look. The newMortal Kombat 11Joker look clearly takes inspiration from Heath Ledger’s Joker, but one fan decided to take things in a different direction, creating a mock-up of what the character would look like if he was based on Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.

Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was introduced in theJokerfilmthat came out earlier this year and blew all its box office expectations out of the water. The record-setting movie crossed over $1 billion at the box office, and earned quite a bit of critical acclaim in the process, especially when it comes to Phoenix’s performance. While Ledger’s turn as The Joker is a tough act to follow for anyone, there are many who now count Phoenix’s Joker as their favorite live-action iteration of the character, and they would likely be interested in a legitimate version of Phoenix’s Joker inMortal Kombat 11.

Nothing has been announced in regards to a version of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker coming toMortal Kombat 11, so fans will have to settle for this fan version, which appears to have been created by artist Aaron Gall and shared to Reddit by user KabalMain.

While Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker may not be coming toMortal Kombat 11, that doesn’t mean an alternate costume based on his character won’t make it to the game. Considering the massive success of the 2019Jokerfilm, it would seem like a pretty big missed opportunity if NetherRealm didn’t reference it at least in some capacity with its upcomingMortal Kombat 11Joker DLC.

With The Joker having just beenre-revealed toMortal Kombat 11fans at The Game Awards 2019, information on his alternate costumes and other things have yet to be revealed. However, theMortal Kombat 11Joker DLC will be available on July 04, 2025, so more details should come within the next few weeks.

After theMortal Kombat 11Joker DLC is added to the game, the next DLC character fans have to look forward to is fellowcomic book character Spawn. Spawn will be released inMortal Kombat 11in March, and after that, fans are anticipating a second Kombat Pack that will add even more DLC characters to the game, but nothing has been confirmed at the time of this writing.

Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
