Reddit user Usual_Outcome4113 has joined the craze in creating their own daily browser game, which they’ve calledNerdle. Posted onto the officialWordlesubreddit, the creator states that this is “not word related” but does indeed put players on edge in a very different way. With each daily iteration leaving users in suspense for different periods of time, a random screen change to black authorizes players to react by clicking. Anyone that clicks too soon before the change will be hit with a 5-second penalty, however, and unable to reattempt until the next day.
Available at playnerdle.com/reaction, the creator has also listed their average score to be a respectable 0.412 seconds. On completion, a result page displays the mapping of player progress, which also generates an average clicking time that can be shared on social media. Asone of the main draws ofWordle, this can appeal to those competitive about their daily progress.
While there is no shortage ofWordle-inspired clones, including those based on mathematics, geography, and more, the draw here is in its incredibly black and white premise. With a tagline of “Start, wait, HIT!” it couldn’t get more simple, yet the nerve-wracking wait for the change in screen tone could make for the most fraught click of the day for those looking to boast about their quick reaction times.

Since its launch late last year,Wordlehas inspired wedding proposals andeven alerted one family about a hostage situation.
