At the 2024 Summer Game Fest, Hasbro and Digital Eclipse pulled back the curtain onMighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, a 2D beat-em-up that features up to 5-player co-op play and various villains from the franchise. Players can assume control of the original fivePower Rangersas they take on Rita Repulsa and her band of monsters.

The gameplay is reminiscent of the 2022 hit titleTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, as levels are set across various parts of Angel Grove and various “monster of the week” bosses appear to wreak havoc. Players can take control of Jason, Billy, Kimberly, Zach, and Trini as they use their Power weapons to fend off Putty Patrols across each level. As fights escalate, Rita uses magic to enlarge her monstrous minions, which usually forces the Power Rangers to pilot their Dinozords to fend them off. The Dinozords can combine into the Megazord, and battle against Rita’s minions in 3D rail-shooter segments.

With Digital Eclipse in charge of development,Power Rangersfans will soon be able to play their favorite characters. According to Digital Eclipse,Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewindis slated for release on PC and console sometime in late 2024. No definitive release date was given at the time of writing, butRita’s Rewindcan be added to Steam wishlists. During the 2024 Summer Game Fest live broadcast, Hasbro and Digital Eclipse revealed a trailer lasting over a minute that showedtheMighty Morphin Power Rangersin action, with graphics reminiscent of the 16-bit era. As a cover of “Go Go Power Rangers” played, the trailer featured moments from the original TV show’s introduction, with Alpha-5 and Zordon calling the would-be Rangers to the Command Center and granting them their Power Coins.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind Is A Blast From The Past

InRita’s Rewind,themain antagonist ofNetflix’sOnce & Always,Robo-Ritauses time travel to return to her first encounters with theMighty Morphin Power Rangers. Teaming up with her past self and monsters such as Goldar and Bones, Robo-Rita looks to take down the teenagers with attitude.Rita’s Rewindwill feature offline and online co-op play, and various genres will be referenced to keep players on their toes. In one trailer segment, thePower Rangersrode a roller coaster with six cars to ride on. However, the sixth car was empty and colored green, a veiled reference to Tommy the Green Ranger, who did not appear in the trailer.
