The latest game in the Nintendo Warriors franchise,Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopeswas revealed at the most recent Nintendo Direct.Three Hopesis the secondFire Emblem Warriorsgameand the fourthWarriorsgame based on a Nintendo franchise. TheWarriorsgames have been met with much success, as they put aDynasty Warriorsspin on some of Nintendo’s most popular series, but that concept does not have to exclusively be used on Nintendo franchises.

In 2015, Omega Force releasedDragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below, which put theDynasty Warriorsspin on thepopularDragon Questseries. While it did not share the name of Nintendo’sWarriorsfranchise, it was aWarriorsgame through and through. IfDragon Quest, Fire Emblem, andLegend of Zeldacan all experiment in the hack-and-slash genre, then so can other franchises.

Lord of the Rings Warriors

Lord of the Ringsis one of the most popular and well known fantasy franchises. It has spawned six movies, multiple video gameslike theShadow of Mordorseries, and Amazon’sRings of Powershow that is coming later this year. The world of Middle-earth would be a perfect setting for aDynasty Warriorstype game.Lord of the Ringsis not short on war, and players could be placed in any of the ages of Middle-earth to fight back against evil. ALord of the RingsWarriorsgame could follow the events of the main series, and it could be placed during the time ofRings of Power. It could take place during the first age, or it could be set in an entirely new era. There is endless possibility for a setting and many characters that players could play as, making it a perfect candidate for a hack-and-slash adaptation.

Elder Scrolls Warriors

As the wait forElder Scrolls 6feels endless, creating a spin-off title set in the world ofElder Scrollswould be a great way to tie people over.Elder Scrollsis no stranger to spin-off titles, as seen withThe Elder Scrolls: Blades, The Elder Scrolls: Legends, andThe Elder Scrolls Online. Each of those titles takes theElder Scrollsbrand and introduces it to a new genre, and aWarriorsgame would do the same. A large portion of everyElder Scrollsgame is conflict, and the overarching story is filled with massive wars. TheDynastyWarriorsfranchise is all about war and conflict, which could be seamlessly integrated into Tamriel. The game could be set during one of the many titles in the series or tell a brand-new story in the world - the possibilities are endless.

Warcraft Warriors

Warcraftis one of the largest PC franchises, withWorld of Warcraftdominating the MMO genre. War is the name of the game here, as the series features conflicts that have spanned multiple worlds. ADynasty Warriorsgame could put players in the shoes of one of many iconic characters, like Thrall or Arthas, and have them participate in events that changed the course of Azeroth. The series has already made the leap from RTS to MMO, and even includes acard game better known asHearthstone, so making the leap to hack-and-slash would not be too far-fetched. AWarcraft Warriorsgame could help expand upon the lore ofWarcraft, introduce new characters, and set up future conflicts. It would also provide players who may be put off by the online nature ofWorld of Warcraftwith a way to play in Azeroth alone.

Final Fantasy Warriors

Dynasty Warriorshas already put a spin on theDragon Questseries, makingFinal Fantasythe obvious next step.Final Fantasyis filled with iconic charactersthat wield legendary weapons, so bringing those characters into massive battles and allowing them to utilize their arsenal would provide fans with hours of fun. EachFinal Fantasytitle is disconnected from the last, and aWarriorsgame would follow that trend. It could bring in all the best characters fromFinal Fantasyinto one large scale hack-and-slash experience. Cloud could fight next to Lightning, Noctis could battle Balthier, and Celes Chere could duke it out alongside Squall Leonhart, There are so many possible crossovers that aFinal FantasyWarriorsgame could deliver, and gamers would surely love the fan service.

RWBY Warriors

In 2013, Rooster Teeth created its own original animated series calledRWBY, which brought viewers to the World of Remnant as teams of colorful characters fought back against the evils of the Grimm. Each of the characters wields unique weapons and have their own unique abilities; Ruby uses a Scythe and can move fast, Yang has fist shotguns and gets more powerful each hit she takes, Blake uses pistols with knives and can create clones of herself, and Weiss uses a sword that can conjure giant creatures. The series experimented with games withRWBY: Grimm Eclipse, which was a hack-and-slash title, and some characters also made an appearanceinBlazeBlue: Cross Tag Battle. The World of Remnant is a perfect location for aWarriorstitle, as the characters were built for it and the Grimm would make perfect antagonists.

Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra Warriors

WhileAvatar: The Last AirbenderandLegend of Korrahave become cult classic animated shows, the series has always struggled to break into the video game market. Both Aang and Korra got games, but they were never received great and theLegend of Korragame cannot be purchased anymore. The ability to bend elements could be a lot of fun in aWarriorstype game. Playing as one of the many Avatars or the Avatar’s friends to throw elements at adversaries would surely bring joy to many fans of the series. As Netflix works on a live action series and Avatar Studios works on expanding the world ofAvatar, anAvatarWarriors game simply makes sense.

There are so many franchises that would lend themselves well to theDynasty Warriorsformula. WithNintendoshowing that it can have success bringing its iconic series to the hack-and-slash genre, maybe it is time for other franchises to try it out. The worst that could happen is that the game is not received well, but it could also become what fans of the franchise have desperately wanted.
