The Straw Hat Pirates have begun the journey to their next destination. The Wano Country arc provided them with valuable experience, which will come in handy for their future adventures. One of the special things about the arc was seeing all the Straw Hats together. Ever since the Dressrosa arc, the Straw Hats have been divided into groups, so it was nice to see them all together.
With the Straw Hats taking down the Beasts Pirates, they have once again caught the eye of the World Government, who wasted no time in issuing new bounties to the crew. The bounty system has caused controversies in the past as many One Piece fans tend to think that it is a representation of a character’s power. This time, it is Sanji’s new bounty that has sparked many debates as it is lower than Zoro and Jimbei’s bounties.

The New Bounties
Cominginto the Wano Country arc, Sanjihad the second-highest bounty in the crew. After the crew’s heroics in the Whole Cake Island arc, Sanji received a bounty of 330,000,000 berries which put him ahead of Zoro. However, it was obvious that Zoro would overtake Sanji once again as the former is stronger, and it did happen.
Zoro’s bounty shot up to 1,111,000,000 berries, while Sanji’s new bounty is 1,032,000,000 berries. Normally, this meant Sanji went back to his usual place as the third most notorious crew member, but this time Sanji had more competition as Jimbei officially joined the crew in the Wano, and his bounty is 1,100,000,000 berries. So, does this mean that Sanji is no longer a member of the Monster Trio?

The Truth
While it is certainly true that Sanji’s bounty is lower than Jimbei’s, it doesn’t mean that the former Warlord is stronger. A bounty is not something that can be used to gauge the strength of a character, but it is merely an indication of how much the World Government feels threatened by a character. An easy example of this would be how Buggy has a higher bounty than the likes of Crocodile,Luffy, Law, Kid, and even Blackbeard.
Buggy’s high bounty is not a representation of his strength, and the reason behind his bounty is his reputation. The Navy is now well aware of the fact that Buggy used to be a member of the Roger Pirates. This information, coupled with their misconceptions about Buggy being a rival of Shanks, being the orchestrator of the Impel down escape, and also managing to have Mihawk and Crocodile serve under him made the Navvy believe that Buggy was a great threat, and so they slapped him with a bounty of 3,189,000,000 berries. Despite his high bounty, Buggy can’t even defeat his underlings.

This is an instance where the Navy wanted to issue a high bounty, but there are also times when they purposely attempt to keep things hidden, which affects the bounty of a person, and Luffy is the perfect example of that. The World Government consider Luffy a major threat, and they even tried to have him assassinated by the CP0, but it backfired, and it led to Luffy awakening his devil fruit. In the Wano Country arc, Luffy not only took down Kaido, but he also managed to tap into the power of Joy Boy.
Logic would dictate that Luffy would have the highest bounty among the Worst Generation, but he ended up with a bounty of 3,000,000,000 berries, which is the same as Eustass Kid and Trafalgar Law. So does this meanthat Law and Kidare on the same level as Luffy? The answer is absolutely not. Luffy is far superior to either of them in terms of strength. Of course, Law and Kid were quite impressive in the war, but Luffy single-handedly took down the Strongest Creature in The World. Taking both scenarios into consideration, a higher bounty is not an indicator of Sanji being weaker than Jimbei. Jimbei has previously served as a Warlord of the Sea, and he fought in the Summit War as well. In comparison, Sanji has never been in the spotlight. So, it makes sense that Jimbei has the higher bounty.
Where He Stands
An easier way to gauge the strength of Jimbei and Sanji is by taking a look at their respective opponents in the Wano Country arc. Jimbei fought against Who’s Who, a Tobi Roppi, whileSanji took on Queen, an All-Star.The All-Stars were Kaido’s most powerful underlings, and they were feared by all. Queen was the second most powerful All-Star, with only King being more powerful. Who’s Who was a Tobi Roppo, who was fairly powerful, but he was no match for the All-Stars.
The difference between the quality of the opponents that Sanji and Jimbei faced gives a better idea of their power. Not only did Sanji have to face the superior opponent, but he also won his fight more comfortably. Also, it is important to remember that Sanji fought against both King and Queen for a brief period. Sanji protected Zoro when he was vulnerable and saved Momonosuke from certain death. All the evidence points toward Sanji being stronger than Jimbei, so, Sanji still retains his position in the Monster Trio. It is very likely that after the next arc, Sanji’s bounty will eclipse that of Jimbei, thus putting an end to the debates.
