Summary
One Punch Man’sAtomic Samurai is one of the most powerful characters in the entire S-Class and has always been at this level since the start of the series. However, in the Monster Association arc, we saw the introduction of the Monster Cadres, acollection of terrifying Dragon Level threatsthat each had the power to destroy all of humanity if the S-Class didn’t stand in their way. Almost every character in the series got their moments to shine in this arc including Atomic Samurai, who was able to unlock the power of the legendary Sun Blade.
Based on what he could do in the few seconds that the Sun Blade gave him power, it was very clear to see that the weapon was incredibly powerful but demanded too much of the wielder. This is where its counterpart, the Moon Blade, comes in. The Moon Blade is a weapon that is only heard about in legends and is said to work in tandem with the Sun Blade togrant the wielder incredible strength.

What is the Moon Blade
This weapon is so elusive within the world ofOne Punch Manthat it hasn’t even been shown and there is no knowledge of what it may look like. What is known, however, is the legend that it and the Sun Blade share. The story tells of these weapons being forged by anancient and mysterious race of peoplewho inhabited a continent that has since been swallowed by the ocean.
It is said that whoever wields both the Sun and Moon blades together will be granted immeasurable power. This ‘Sword Saint’ would presumably be immune to all the drawbacks of the Sun Blade due to the possession of its counterpart andwould be a master swordsmanthat far exceeds their contemporaries. To find the Moon Blade and realize this legend is the ultimate goal of the Council of Swordsmen. After the events of the Monster Association arc, the leader of the council, Nichirin, entrusted this mission to Atomic Samurai.
Powers and Abilities
As of now, anything that can be said regarding the abilities of the Moon Blade is pure speculation as the series itself hasn’t given any more details than the ones given above. However, it can beguessed that the abilities of the Moon Bladehave some sort of relationship with the Sun Blade, so it is possible to deduce at least some minor things about it.
To start, when wielding the Sun Blade, the user is granted an incredible boost to their strength and speed as seen when Atomic Samurai was able to decimate Homeless Emperor’s giant orb of light and cut off Golden Sperm’s arm, the latter of which was a character said to be stronger andmore durable than Superalloy Darkshine. With this in mind, it is fair to assume that the Moon Blade alone would have similar powers and abilities as this.
However, one major aspect of the Sun Blade is that it is extremely taxing on the wielder when it is used on its own.Though Atomic Samurai did very wellwith the blade, his usage only lasted a few moments as it took too much out of him. Other than this, the Sun Blade is also said to have a soul inside of it which gives it such power, temporarily taking over the minds and actions of those who wield it. It is not far off to speculate that the Moon Blade follows a similar construction.
Both swords' true power, however, seems to be brought out when they’re used together. When they’re wielded at the same time, the Moon Blade could counteract the drawbacks of the Sun Blade, allowing the user to wield the swords for as long and as they want at their full potential. Whatever the case may be,One Punch Manhas built up quite the legendabout the Moon Blade and it is only a matter of time until we see it in action!
