Summary
Open-world gamesallow players to choose their own adventures and craft their own experiences. While some games in this genre allow players to create their own characters as well, other games offer players the chance to experience multiple perspectives by having them play as a few different characters.
The ability to hop into the shoes of another character and experience the in-game world from their perspective can put a completely different spin on the game. This is particularly true if the playable characters are wildly different from one another with varying abilities and a noticeable difference in the way that NPCs interact with them.

The majority ofRed Dead Redemption 2is played from the perspective of Arthur Morgan. However, after Chapter 6, players will assume the role of John Marston, who is the main protagonist of the first game in the series. Althoughthese two outlaws certainly have a few things in common, they are arguably more different than they are alike.
Having the opportunity to explore the same open world, and interact with the same characters, differently than Arthur did is certainly interesting, and adds a new dynamic to the game. As John, players will even be able to talk to characters about Arthur, making for some truly beautiful scenes.

While the base game ofKingdom Come: Deliveranceis only played from the perspective of Henry, a humble blacksmith’s son, there is an entire expansion pack that allows players to experience the war-torn world of medieval Bohemia through the eyes of a woman.
The Woman’s LotDLC sees Henry’s lover, Theresa, recall her experiences from the early stages of the game when their hometown of Skalitz was ransacked. As Theresa, players will have a different array of skills at their disposal and will seethe equally taxing ordealsshe had to face while Henry was off on his own adventure.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2was a huge success and one of the many reasons for this is the fact thatplayers are able to switch between the two different Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, at pretty much any time. Although both are technically Spider-Man, they each bring something different to the table with unique personalities, gadgets, and suits.
In addition to this, there are points in the story when players will get to take on the role of other characters, such as Venom and Mary Jane, all of whom offer completely different perspectives on the world and story.

Game of the Year winnerBaldur’s Gate 3is one of the greatest RPGs ever made and is known for the infinite number of options and choices that it presents to players. At the very start of the game, players canchoose from seven Origins characters to play as, or they can create their own.
The best thing about this is that, even when players have chosen their main protagonist, these other characters and many more can berecruited to the player’s party, and then at the click of a button, they can take control of them. Every single instance of dialogue varies greatly inBG3, depending on who is doing the talking or sometimes even just who is standing in the background as a party member. If players are looking for an open-world game that lets them experience a nearly unlimited number of perspectives, then this is the answer.

1Grand Theft Auto 5
Play As Michael, Trevor, And Franklin
Grand Theft Auto 5is one ofthe best open-world games of all timeand is iconic for its use of three protagonists whom players can switch between. While Michael De Santa and Trevor Phillips have a complicated history between them, Franklin Clinton is the new kid on the block and at times acts as a mediator between the two.
All three of these characters have very different outlooks on lifeand, at least at the start of the game, find themselves in wildly different positions. While some missions must be completed as a certain character, in the free-roam parts of the game, players can instantly switch to whoever they want, with each character having their own side activities and ways of interacting with the world.
