Taking part in the wave of recent fan art based on licensed characters, anOverwatch 2player has created concept art of several heroes inX-Mencostumes. Blizzard recently announced its first licensed skins forOverwatch 2, based on the popular manga and animeOne-Punch Man. NowOverwatch 2players from across the world are offering up their ideas for what licensed skins the online multiplayer shooter should work on next.

It’s somewhat surprising to consider, but until recently Blizzard had kept to a practice of not adding licensed content toOverwatch 2. All skins and cosmetics were original toOverwatchorOverwatch 2, or tied in from another Blizzard property. TheOne Punch Mancollaborationchanged that, with plans to add multiple skins from the anime. That includes a Saitama skin for Doomfest and a Mumen Rider for Soldier 76, and potentially others yet.

One Reddit user named King_Shuaa took it into their own hands to imagine what it might look like ifOverwatch 2crossed over with theX-Mennext. They created fanart imaginingOverwatch 2characters usingskins based onX-Men: The Animated Series. More specifically, they imagined a Cyclops skin for Soldier 76, a Beast skin for Winston, and a Nightcrawler skin for Tracer.

The skins are well-thought-out, with thepowers of each of theX-Menpotentially translating well to each hero. Tracer’s ability to blink matches with Nightcrawler’s mutant teleportation power. It just needs a puff of purple smoke, the smell of sulfur, and a “Bamf” audio cue. Beast is, obviously, transformed into a blue and powerfully athletic creature, which translates well to Winston’s gorilla strength. Both are also geniuses, which perhaps implies Beast was an influence in Winston’s original development.

As for Soldier 76, the connection is more tenuous. Cyclops shoots powerful beams of energy out of his eyes, while Soldier 76 is nothing more than a well-trained soldier. They are both somewhat generic leaders, though. If Blizzard wanted to get creative, it could perhaps replaceSoldier 76’s Helix Rocketswith a Cyclops eye blast. Or go further and replace his gunfire entirely with a persistent eye blast.

Marvel’sX-Menis a great potential partner forOverwatch 2, as there are enough mutants that virtually everyOverwatch 2hero could pair up with for a skin. Genji’s sword could be swapped outWolverine’s claws, Reinhardt and Colossus make a good fit, Kiriko’s talismans could work as cards thrown by Gambit, and if Sigma isn’t given a Magneto skin at this point, then something has gone terribly wrong. It just goes to show that Blizzard has a lot of licensed skin opportunities in front of it,X-Menand otherwise.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
