However, Competitive Points could only be spent on gold skins for character weapons, whereas Credits could beused on newOverwatchskins, voice lines, emotes, and more.
With the sequel already confirmed to be making major changes, such asgetting rid of Loot Boxes in favor of a Battle Pass, it’s time that Blizzard added another tier for weapon skins. If the devs want to go a step beyond, they could even add exclusive cosmetics or skins for heroes that can only be attained after competitive matches. This would create more coveted skins for weapons, especially sinceOverwatchprime only offered golden weaponsover the course of six years.

On the other hand, they could create a similar system toCall of Duty: Black Ops IIand havediamond only accessible after everything in a certain category is unlocked. InCall of Duty: Black Ops 2, a player must have all gold assault rifle weapons unlocked before they can apply Diamond Camouflage. ForOverwatch 2, the same technique could apply, except with users needing to unlock all the gold weapons for heroes in the tank, damage, or support categories.
