Persona 5 Royalbrings several fresh changes to Atlas' beloved RPG, offering anupdated experience in Tokyofor the Phantom Thieves to explore. Among these new additions is an item called Sooty Armor, which replaces Dirty Armor from the previous game and can be laundered for a chance to obtain high-quality armor.
InPersona 5 Royal, cleaning Sooty items will grant a specific armor piece depending on the type of item washed, which can be equipped by males, females, both genders, or Morgana exclusively. Some of this gear offers substantial benefits to members of the Phantom Thieves, so taking the time to wash the Sooty items can be worthwhile.

How to Get Sooty Armor in Persona 5 Royal
Sooty Armorcan be obtained byNegotiating with or defeatingDisaster Shadows, and by opening treasure chests, in Palaces and Mementos. Male shadows will carry Sooty items yielding male armor when washed, females carry female equipment, and beasts will carry equipment for Morgana.
Once the player has Sooty Armor pieces, they can either wash these items at the laundromat or sell the still dirty item to Kichijoji’s vintage clothing store,Furugi no Neuchi. The latter will earn the player points that can be spent in the store.
How to wash Sooty Armor in Persona 5 Royal
In order to wash any Sooty Armor the player may find, they must head to thelaundromat in the Yongen-Jayabackstreets,located across the street from Leblanc and next to the bathhouse. There is a small area featuring large and small washing machines where they can wash these items. The player will be able to teleport to the laundromat directly after visiting it for the first time. The washing machines cost ¥400 to use and can hold up to four pieces of armor.
Each Sooty Armor cleaned will transform intoa specific piece of gear, which has a chance of washing into either a low-quality or high-quality version. After cleaning a Sooty item, the resulting armor piece can be sold atIwai’s Airsoft Shopfor a small amount of yen.

How to get Kawakami to Do Laundry in Persona 5 Royal
Once the player hasraised Temperance confidantSadayo KawakamitoRank 3, they can unlock herHousekeepingability and have her do the Protagonist’s laundry. Doing so will allow the player to spend their limited time in a day on much more important tasks.
To have Kawakami do laundry, the player should visit the laundromat across the street from Leblanc in the evening and add the Sooty Armor they wish to wash to the laundry machine. The player will then be given the option to call Kawakami and have her do it for them. She will charge ¥5,000 for her service, but atRank 9confidence level she will do the laundry for free. She will not be available to do laundry during the day, so the player must ensure call her in the evening.
If the player chooses to have Kawakami do the laundry, it’s important to be aware that laundry she washes will not count toward theThieves Den achievement“World Class Launderer." The player will have to clean their own Sooty armor and receive ten different types of armor to earn this award.
