PlayStationiterates on the suite of features for its console regularly, introducing quality of life updates and minor changes at a relatively steady pace. Of course, these features take time to implement, and they can’t really be fully introduced until they’ve been tested. Those tests rely on the back of beta testers to ensure that things go smoothly. For those inPlayStation’s beta tester program, a new set of features will be available to try tomorrow.

Over on Twitter, PlayStation announced a new system software beta featuring the “community requested” Open Parties feature, which will allow for users to set their party to “open” or “closed.” The two types are fairly self-explanatory, with open parties allowing friends and friends-of-friends to join, while closed parties are on an invite-only basis.

There’s also an update to the voice reporting system on PlayStation platforms, which allows users to record and report anything someone in a party said. The clip can then be forwarded toPlayStation Safetyfor review. With the update, a visual indicator will show who was speaking, making it easier for PlayStation to take action against harassment based on the report.

The PS5’s Game Base feature is also receiving some tweaks, turning “voice chats” into “parties.” PlayStation is also splitting the Game Pass into three segments, Friends, Parties, and Messages. The changes will make it easier to manage ongoing voice call parties, friends, and messages in the UI, making the social aspect of gaming on the platform much easier.

The PS5’s home screen will also receive some improvements. Now, users will be able to select “Keep in Home” to have an app remain on the main game bar when they launch their console. Additionally, users will be able to filter games by genre, making it easier to find a specific type of experience. ThePS5 UIwill also show more games on the home screen, allowing users to keep up ti 14 on the main menu. Trophy cards are also getting a visual redesign.

Perhaps the most important enhancements are coming to thePS5’s accessibility options. Screen reader will now support an additional set of languages, for a grand total of 15 languages. Users will also be able to enable mono audio rather than 3D or stereo audio. And, finally, the PS5 is getting voice command support, though PlayStation stressed that it’s still in it’s early phases. All of these features will be included in the beta, with the full versions launching later this year.
